@AthenaPortly I just think it feels much more like an action game that also has stats and a character creator. It's missing the traditional storytelling method and choices that a RPG would have. Souls games don't really come from any established RPG tradition either, as far as I know.

i think hard modes should be treated like the intended way to play a game and it sucks thats not a common sentiment. theres legit too many complaints around certain games that are clearly the person playing a lower difficulty

@Emmesharra Imo, once you throw customization in game, there is no such thing as a cannon character even if the developers say so because they gave me the option for that to not be so.

Playing as the default character in a game where you can customize yourself seems like npc behavior to me.
