Stop cherry-picking... He doesn't just "admit" that he's messed up; he keeps ruminating on his mistakes and shortcoming, and lets it affect him deeply on multiple occasions. This is out of character. BoC doesn't need moments of self-doubt to set up his determination. He just IS.

Sonic was kinda OOC in Frontiers and IDW tried turning Sonic into a dynamic character then it went horribly (at least for me and many other people).
