NEW | The Assembly election in Bengal suggests India is moving from a flawed democracy towards a Russian-style managed democracy, where elections are increasingly engineered to favour the ruling party. Debasish Roy Chowdhury (@Planet_Deb) ✍️ frontline.thehindu.com/politics/manag…

here is what mars might look like if you filled the oceans and let the simulation run for a million years or so

UP should be split into multiple states. Managing 250 million people under one Chief Minister is basically like managing a country, almost equivalent to the population of the US. When Someone says - I’m from UP and the first question should actually be: ‘UP East or UP West?’😄 Because those two feel like completely different worlds pretending to be one state. The way people speak in Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut side feels completely different from Gorakhpur, Ballia, Azamgarh side. The language changes, slang changes, vibe changes, everything.

Only those who reduce culture to biryani, vocabulary, Bollywood songs, and pre-Partition nostalgia believe in this BS. Culture is not just food and accent. Culture is also how a child is named, how marriage is solemnized, how the dead are treated, +

There's no depth in any of these analysis. Its already known that BJP vote overlaps with INC pan state. BJP can grow mostly at the expense of INC. If INC wins next election, BJP growth will be delayed for long. Voter has to be convinced that INC is going down for BJP to rise.

Fun fact: the cultural distance between North and South India is actually greater than that between North India and Pakistan.

Muslim voters no longer matter to BJP. Only a new Hindu-led coalition can challenge the Modi-Shah BJP… #NationalInterest Illustration by Shruti Naithani @Shruu_art theprint.in/national-inter…

The time has come for a serious debate on the relevance of Governors in states. Why should the country continue to bear the burden of BJP puppets in Raj Bhavans - whose sole aim is to push the BJP’s partisan agenda, harass the opposition, and undermine the people’s mandate?

Vande Mataram is an ode to a goddess. It cannot be treated on par with the national anthem. Jana Gana Mana celebrates India and its people, not a particular religion. Religion ≠ nation. The man who wrote Vande Mataram was sympathetic to the British Raj and despised Muslims. Netaji Bose, Gandhi, Nehru, and Tagore all rejected it. The Preamble to the Constitution of India begins with “We, the People” — not “Bharat Maa”. It promises “liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship”. The very first provision of the Constitution, Article 1, describes “India, that is Bharat” as a Union of States. In the Constituent Assembly, some members wanted the Preamble to begin in the name of a goddess; they specifically invoked Vande Mataram. Others wanted it to begin “In the name of God” and to replace “its citizens” with “her citizens”. All these amendments were defeated. India, that is Bharat, is its people. The nation is not a goddess; it does not run in the name of a god or goddess, and it does not belong to one god or goddess. timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/cabinet-…
