@trevortombe @TheHubCanada As a lot of the bitumen resource revenues are calculated based on WTI CAD. I’ll often hear AB gov’ts complain they don’t have a crystal ball, they can’t control the price of oil. However, they can risk manage it during extreme price spikes. Eg today WTI closed at $81 or $111 CAD

@trevortombe @TheHubCanada The program could be setup in a very simplistic way to yield fabulous results. E.g. if prices are more than $20 above the WTI price to balance the next year’s budget, then hedge a certain % each week. I think hedging CAD/USD on top of this would add further benefits.

@ABDanielleSmith Hi Danielle, have you considered getting the APMC to have a commodity hedging program? During price spikes in the oil market, it would give your government the opportunity to lock in royalty revenue.

@CoryBMorgan Sometimes I wonder why Calgary rose to prominence over the other cities in Alberta to be the top city. Why wasn’t it Lethbridge or Edmonton or Red Deer? I think the wind is what held back Lethbridge, and the cold in Edmonton. Maybe Red Deer is too far from Banff, and no chinooks.

Lethbridge is a city that feels like it hasn't changed much in the last 30 years. I am sure the locals would differ with me. On that though. It's a nice city but has always had a rough edge. Used to be a couple bars in these closed buildings I patronized long ago. They had cheap beer but you wanted to sit with your back to the wall.

@paininc @DanWMcLean You make a great point, cyclists deserve a safe way to get around the city. Even if they are a minority of commuters, they shouldn’t have to fear for their lives.

@DanWMcLean A man was killed here last year in the bike lane as it is simply a painted line. Crushed by a gravel truck. To the credit of the city it is looking to upgrade things to prevent future incidents. Then we have Dan, who is more concerned about parking than preventable deaths. #yyccc

The “War on the Car” continues with MILLIONS to be spent removing hundreds of Parking spots and a driving lane for bikes on 26th Ave. I’ve heard the 15th Ave Bike Lane cost close to $1M per Block so wouldn’t Tax Dollars be better spent on Water Pipes??

@DanWMcLean I think a compromise is important here. How can we improve safety of bike infrastructure on this end of the city, while accepting most people drive everywhere. Maybe convert another E/W avenue in Killarney to have zero stop signs at the same time? How about 23 Ave?

@Booger42069 A lot of funds who are long semis suddenly need somewhere to hide. There are a lot of other sectors with a low correlation to big tech. Energy is one of them. Same with gold, same with Berkshire Hathaway.

@Cole_Smead Suddenly $MEG is the prettiest girl at the dance. If they are such a great catch, then why didn’t $CVE pick them up at any time in the last 10 years? It would’ve been way cheaper back in the day.

$VET.TO, what a difference 5-years makes: buy high and sell low, just like others such as the great Crescent Point Energy. From $1.4bn to only $415 million over the span of only five years, truly astonishing value destruction.

@BubleQe $SHEL ? Why did they keep it secret. Most Canadian producers would brag about buying this. Only a European would be discreet.

@the_transit_guy The downtown Calgary to Banff segment is privately funded. That’s why I think this one has a chance at happening. Also, there is clear government support. They are designing the grand central station as we speak, it will connect to an elevated LRT stop right next to an nhl rink.

@AskPerplexity @BeastGames2024 How has constellation software done over the past 15 years? You said none of them outperformed the broader market, but this stock is TSX listed. Has it outperformed the TSX in the past 15 years?

The top 3 stocks by performance from the original "20 top stocks that have 50x+ potential" list actually all underperformed the S&P 500, with the average decline across the group being about 70%. Unfortunately, none of the stocks from that list stood out as a big winner—every single one lagged behind the broader market during the period analyzed.

@The_Feminist_TM @ChaosTheory6122 If this guy started playing guitar and dedicated himself to it, he would be great at it. Maybe he already has? He clearly has a lot of the key skills to succeed at it.

This is such a perfect example of why video games are unattractive. The difference between this nerd and a guy who can do that on an actual guitar is night and day. Video games hijack male ambition towards imaginary achievements.

@grescoe The $3.9B is only for pre-construction work: design and development. The total bill will be $80B CAD.

Being realistic $3.9 billion won't build much high-speed track mileage these days, and the Liberals' future is up in the air. (Though much less so than in January.) Also—what about #Windsor ? Still—this is a big step forward.
