The #CrunchCreator game is an incredible concept and seems to have done unbelievably well. Rugby Instagram/influencers are well followed and achieving 42,000 people coming to watch the game suggests this is definitely something that needs to be continued and invested in. 😍

I just don't feel great about this. Excellent player and I'm sure he would do great on the international stage... I would just prefer fellas that grew up wanting to play for England like Ojomoh, Northmore, Hartley etc in there.

@WarrenLowe1 English Rugby has always had foreigners play for them, Fraser Dingwall is Scottish, yet you welcome him with open arms? Only two nations field practically 100% local talent at international level. Argentina and South Africa, England simply does not have the local talent.

@JacquesMaree73 I agree with that mate. I just don't always agree with some of the players being selected. It is an extremely grey area of rugby where unfortunately, the inner emotional/comfort/acceptance barometer does move in dependent on the players route / situation.

@WarrenLowe1 Yes, not sure how those two ended up on the list. But the point remains that England has a long history of casting the net wide to fill gaps in its lineup, using both residency and ancestry rules to sign players from many other countries.

@Tobias_Everton I think the "why was this never voiced" line is creating a narrative that this is somehow just an "anti south African" player stance? I think you'll find there are many examples of players where fans/ex players/pundits/journalists etc who have had issues with their selection.

@WarrenLowe1 I appreciate the desire to keep your side English - I really do, look at Ireland, a disgrace. But why was this never voiced for the many Polynesian players that have played for England? Fear of being called racist? It's not like this is the first non-English born player for Eng.

@Tobias_Everton @JamesMaysHitman I've heard this argument a few times now. It's really not selective, it's circumstantial. There have been loads of players I personally haven't agreed with being selected. Players like Willi Heinz and Ben Te'o and loads more. I think ages grade rugby matters as well.

@JamesMaysHitman @WarrenLowe1 There are plenty more than that. Top of head - Riki Flutey, Nathan Hughes both developed elsewhere. It just seems like selective outrage because it's safe to do so. Regardless, this isn't anything new - Brad Barritt was basically in the same situation and he played well for Eng.

@HGBB33 @WarrenLowe1 To be fair, those players qualified via parents or in the case of Manu and the Vunipolas, came as children and developed their game here. Benhardt did none of the former.

@___ndlovukazi I wouldn't necessarily say we are lacking at 12. Ojomoh, Dingwall and Atkinson are all deserving of some prolonged time in the shirt with fellas like Hartley and Bailey not far behind.

@Campbell99James To be honest mate, what other countries do never came into my thinking when posting this. I'm sure there are fans of each of those countries who will have similar thoughts when seeing players who came through their youth set ups overlooked.

@WarrenLowe1 Why has this opinion been overemphasized with BJVR? Never seems to be a big deal when France, Wales, Ireland, Scotland & Italy all select players who qualify through residency and unlike them this isn’t a planned idea to draft him into the setup 5 years ago.
