If AI stops this from happening, then re-evaluate what you are gaining. Publishing is about helping patients through evidence based practice. However, you can help patients even more if you grow academically and publish better studies as you mature and learn. Happy writing!

And finally a note from me. If you are a junior researcher, make sure that AI doesn't replace your ability to learn. Research is a process of continual learning, and you must be able to refine yourself as a clinician and scientist as you publish.

🚨 New Podcast 🚨 open.spotify.com/episode/7sjaTn… It was a pleasure to have this discussion at #Radiopaedia2025 with my old friend Rahil Kassamali and fellow JMIRO Editor Sally Ayesa, both amazing people. This has now been released as a @Radiopaedia Podcast today, episode 73. Thanks to Andrew Dixon and Frank Gaillard for having us on the show, and for the playful banter! Hear about the different paths we all took to get to our current destination, and what a diverse and rewarding career you can have as a radiologist. I would also recommend signing in to listen to our talks at the conference which were played separately, see here: radiopaedia.org/courses/lectur… Very often, life takes you on a path you didn't expect. Whether you end up going down the path of diagnostics, intervention, teleradiology, research, or any other special interest area, I'm sure your career will be rewarding. #podcast #irad #interventionalradiology #career @MonashSTM @AlfredHealth @IRSA_IRs @cirsesociety @BSIR_News @ARRS_Radiology @RSNA @SERVEISoc @ETF_IRtrainees

Interesting to see this publication (well, the abstract, the main article is hidden behind an Elsevier paywall 😡). https:/doi.org/10.1016/j.lanogw.2025.09.017 Very sad to hear the burden of this on quality of life for young UK women, plus to see and quantify the financial burden this imposes. Very good study, congratulations to the authors. Unfortunately, I hear stories like this at every one of my outpatient clinic sessions. Question for gynaecologists and IRs - is anyone offering inpatient embolisation services in this scenario, or inpatient IR referral and category 1 outpatient treatment? With fibroids/adenomyosis as the aetiology. I would certainly offer it as a broad rule, noting individual patient factors are important for final decision making. Huge value of multidisciplinary input in this scenario, and #irad has a lot to offer these women. We need good hospital systems that offers women specialist IR input or even better, gets them specialist IR advice before needing last resort hospital admission. #stopthebleed #embolisation #ufe #fibroids #interventionalradiology

🚨 Manuscript Alert 🚨 A comparative cost analysis of TIPS and BRTO for secondary prophylaxis in gastric variceal bleeding doi.org/10.1186/s42155… How much does it actually cost to perform life saving interventions for gastric variceal bleeding? Is BRTO (or other RTO) a good option, or should we always persist with the tried and tested pathway of TIPS? In this study, we conclude "The cost magnitude of both TIPS and BRTO were low in an Australian model, and both remain good options for patients. However, the use of BRTO was associated with significantly lower upfront procedural costs than for TIPS for secondary prevention of gastric variceal bleeding. Costs should form a key component of the value of IR to modern healthcare." Read our manuscript to find out more! #cost #costeffective #openaccess #irad #interventionalradiology @IRSA_IRs @cvirendo @cirsesociety @RANZCRcollege @GGohIR @MonashSTM
