I don't like posting drama. But this has crossed a line, and I need a record in place in order to pre-empt someone who is trying to indict my character in public. I really had hoped that this would be de-escalated. In a recent tweet, vlogger RD, @Rhetordead , and I had a disagreement about how to define "Communist": RD preferred a broad definition, while I thought minor distinctions were important to understand. Already a micro-disagreement by internet standards. However, RD took this very, very seriously and said he would make a stream about me. I offered to come on his stream. He rejected the offer. I said that I didn't think it was good to talk about a person when you could talk TO the person, but I politely reiterated my offer, making it clear that the OFFER included MY CHANNEL (HIGHLIGHTED) and that the offer was open (it still is). I also said that if people were going to use RD's stream to impugn my character, I would merely reiterate my offer for conversation and point out that he had rejected it. Sure enough, RD spent most of today complaining about me. When one of his followers asked why he wasn't talking to me, I pointed out (as promised) that I had offered to host him on my channel. RD then used this as an opportunity to accuse me of gaslighting, saying I had never offered my channel as a platform. Then he compared me to Vaush as a means of calling me a liar. When I produced the offer (shown below in highlighted text), he pretended that he couldn't read the words as written. Generally speaking, I like to maintain friendships in spite of disagreements; I thought RD was one, sadly. But when people try to take disagreements of fact or mistakes and present them as "lies" and even when shown evidence that the person they are accusing was not lying, they INSIST on making the accusation, I have to conclude that I am dealing with a malevolent actor. Look, I am not saying you have to like my content. It's niche. I am not saying that I am always right. I make a ton of mistakes and forget things all the time. But I take seriously my honesty about my mistakes and my character generally. I work hard to maintain a reputation as an honest actor, even if I am mistaken about many things, and when people attack that reputation, I can't turn a blind eye. I am really sorry it had to come to this with RD. I enjoyed his work otherwise.

Because that is just basic decency and consideration for feelings. When I only wanted casual, I was extremely careful not to hurt men’s feelings and would tell them upfront and they would still get upset so why this extreme double standard? It’s appalling. Men treat women so much worse than they demand to be treated. Anyway, I’ve learned that most men are bad people who lack moral intuitions so my expectations are much lower now, but I think in my sample, men are generally better. I bring up kids and marriage on first dates or even before dates. This used to seem awkward to me but it’s much more efficient.

Every man liking this tweet is scum It should not be too much to ask that men simply be respectful, honest, and not waste women’s time. If a man asks a woman on a date, the default assumption should be that he is dating for a relationship, not seeking a booty call. She clearly wants a serious relationship. He wasted her time and insulted her. That said, perhaps “coffee date” should be code for “just wants to fuck,” and this is why you should only go on dinner dates and make the men pay (unless they are poor and demonstrate effort).
