@MindJailbreaker @peterdaou That’s a US problem, not ours.
English

@WatcherUpNorth @peterdaou I GUARANTEE you this would be the narrative if Trump did nothing. "How could he abandon the Iranian people after setting a red line? Is he just going to wait until they nuke Israel and all of our bases in the region? What a disgraceful coward." Yawn. Too predictable.

Today I$rael tried to kill me in a targeted airstrike in southern Lebanon as I was reporting on was the targeting of bridges and the forced displacement of 1 million people, an ethnic cleansing operation on a larger scale than the Nakba
I have absolutely no doubt that this was deliberate. Despite claims there were no warnings ahead of the strike and no notifications sent to the Lebanese Army who allowed us to film
As we have seen in Gaza they want to silence journalists who document and report their war crimes
It is the western powers who provide political and military support for I$rael, arming it to the teeth to carry out genocide in Gaza and ethnic cleansing here in Lebanon. They are not simply complicit, but active participants and should be held accountable for their actions.
But if I$rael thinks today’s strike will silence us and keep us out of the field they are very, very mistaken

@MindJailbreaker @peterdaou Horrible what the regime has done, no debate there. But condemning it doesn’t mean we sign up as the world’s police every time. Iran isn’t our problem, and suddenly caring about human rights only when it fits a narrative is mega cherry-picking.
English

@WatcherUpNorth @peterdaou Speaking of cherry-picking. How come no outrage for the tens of thousands of Iranian citizens slaughtered by their own government? Why is it supporting them that is suddenly abhorrent? Selectively calling for "peaceful resolutions" based on political motives grows old.
English

That’s not accurate. NORAD isn’t a bill Canada hasn’t paid, it’s a joint command where both countries contribute differently. Canada funds key radar systems, provides critical territory and bases, and has committed tens of billions to modernization. Without Canada’s geography alone, NORAD doesn’t function the way it does.
English

@WatcherUpNorth @mark_slapinski And Canada hasn't paid much into it. That is Vance's point.
English

Yes, that line is from Ecclesiastes, which is Old Testament, but it’s not a command to wage war. It’s a philosophical passage describing life’s extremes, not endorsing them. Cherry-picking “a time for war” while ignoring the broader emphasis on peace and restraint, especially in the New Testament, completely misrepresents the text.
English

@peterdaou You should try reading the Bible sometime. It is full of references to righteous battles against evil. Ever hear of Ecclesiastes as an example? To everything there is a season. A time to kill. A time for war.

@GCapocchio46386 @mark_slapinski NORAD is a joint operation between Canada and the US.

Yesterday, NORAD fighter jets via US aircraft, escorted two passenger planes to Montreal-Trudeau International following a reported security incident. The planes landed safely, and two men were arrested. FBI surveillance uncovered a plot by two Canadian teens to simultaneously attack their high schools. The FBI shared this critical intelliengece with Interpol who gave it to Canadian authorities leading to their arrests. Yeah, we don't need America. 🙄

Yeah… because they’re smart enough not to get sucked into cleaning up a mess they didn’t create. This is just another Middle East disaster that never needed to happen in the first place.
You lit the match, now you get to deal with the fire.
And maybe ease up on whining about “allies” not jumping in, especially after spending months bullying and threatening them. That’s not how partnerships work, that’s how you end up standing alone wondering where everyone went.
English

“If it wasn’t for the US we’d all be speaking Mandarin or Russian” yeah, and if my grandma had wheels she’d be a pickup truck. It’s a fantasy people repeat because it makes them feel important, not because it’s grounded in reality.
And the banking point is you basically admitting Canadian banks can compete in the US market while their banks can’t handle ours. That’s not dominance… that’s getting totally outplayed and pretending it’s genius strategy.
English

@WatcherUpNorth @mark_slapinski I bet the rusted hammer in my toolbox has a higher IQ than yours. Think about this. If it wasn't for the US we would be speaking mandarin or Russians. And yes we do take advantage of trade as well. We have Canadian banks in the US they do not have US banks in Canada.
English

@Tfreema94181255 @mark_slapinski No, you do not.
English

@Microinteracti1 @thorchrs I agree. They can’t stop being rude and demeaning even when they need help.
