@ifixhearts Forget about WHAT it is, and think more about WHY it is. ( My triglycerides decreased by 2/3rds when I cut out carbs, and my HDL increases most when I have been regularly exercising

The ratio between your triglycerides and your HDL is a very good predictor of metabolic health.

Parents can put parental blocks on all social media apps. When I was a teenager, my parents had one family computer, in the dining room and we were only allowed one hour a day after school on it for “fun”, if we were doing homework, or researching more about something that interested us in class/we needed help understanding better, that was an exception. I had 4 siblings living at home at that time, and if there was ever an issue with more than one of us needing to use it, my mom would let us use the laptop hooked up to the TV in her bedroom. I regularly had my phone taken away and dinner, and if I really needed to have a conversation with someone (teenage drama) my mom would give me her phone to text or call from—which I had to give back before bed. I didn’t get a tablet or my own laptop until i was 17 and could afford it myself. The internet was still mean and filled with weirdos and creeps back then. But life was good… we played outside a lot, did arts and crafts, hung out as a family etc. The government didn’t need to ban internet for this to be the outcome—my parents were simply aware of what they were dealing with and set rules we respected and followed, even when they were unpopular.

A new poll says 75 per cent of Canadians would like to see a full ban on social media for children under 16. Australia has moved in this direction.  Canada should be considering options to limit social media use by minors. In the coming weeks, our government will be asking Saskatchewan people for their views on this matter.

@RobynUrback 1) Official air Canada statement? OR 2) A person in a position expressing their empathy in the language that they can best communicate that in. I don't know enough about this situation to know which of the two the CEO was called out for.

I get why people are rolling their eyes at this (and normally I would too!) but one of the deceased pilots was a francophone from Quebec. It would've been nice if the CEO spoke a few words to his family, in their language
Scott Robertson@sarobertsonca

PM Mark Carney says he is "very disappointed" in Air Canada CEO's English-only message of condolence: "It doesn't matter the circumstances, but particularly in these circumstances, lack of judgment and lack of compassion."

My biggest frustration these days is trying to find enough time in the day to practice my guitar, I need an hour, maybe I get 15 minutes and I have equipment stashed away in almost every hotel I stay in around the world. It’s like a #guitar #starlink

@elonmusk Future ideas: Seat back cargo surface -wide enough with back seat fold down bed (or have bump-outs) -side loading ramp door into the back seat for a motorcycle - Aircraft or E-track cargo rails for a 12v office sized fridge (or 120v using inverter.) Fridge mounted facing out.

@SBakerMD Super-human feats often require a sub-human diet. Anyone can do a few lines of coke and stay up all night cleaning their houses.

Most people consume far more carbs (and energy for that matter) than they need Zach would be an exception If I were to lose my mind and start training for ultras I’d probably add in carbs But for now I’m content crushing various sprint world records on carnivore Thinking I’ll pop off a 1000 meter record soon, as I haven’t done that one yet

If you are okay with a low output lifestyle, gluconeogensis works fine. When I broke the 100 mile and 12 hour WRs (high output lifestyle) following a low carbohydrate diet I was asked by some why I fueled with ~40g of carbs per hour and didn't rely on gluconeogenesis. My response, go and try to burn 12,000 calories in 12 hours relying on gluconeogenesis and let me know how it goes. Survive and performance are not the same, but often get confused.

are you serious ? what you seem to be describing is an inability for boomers to function at a most basic level of discernment are people really unable to parse through basic information and arrive at a reasonable conclusion what you are saying is horrific- the level of psychological manipulation to break large numbers of people has been reached. I'm shocked

I have been speaking to some of the people who live in Guelph and Toronto. Just simply bringing up how they are feeling about what is going on politically and economically in Canada. And I can honestly say I have never seen such a level of rage coming out of my fellow Boomers in my life. And its all directed at Trump and America. It's like their whole history of going to America, being grateful for America's protection, even loving parts of the US, has completely collapsed in the face of their belief that the US wants to make them the 51st state. They really took those memes and words seriously, and because nobody really explained why he was saying it (he doesn't hate Canada, he hates the last two (globalist) Liberal administrations), it has congealed into rage. And then Carney looks like their saviour, even though he is actually the Globalist who wants to destroy Canada. It's a bloody mess.

When I was growing up in Canada, a rally of thousands in Canada’s largest city displaying openly antisemitic caricatures would have caused national outrage and weeks of debate about who the people were, how they were radicalised, and how to stop them. Now?

My printer ran out of ink. To buy an new ink cartridge = $69. To buy a new printer (the same one I have) = $59. How does this make sense?
