@wxmase @wokal_distance @Bsbcaer No one could fucking afford it! Shit, I rented a room in a house owned by a mechanical engineer at an avionics company, and even HE needed one renter to make his mortgage. It's not JUST that (did you read the first words there, genius?), but it doesn't help, does it?

Another aging, out of touch, Canadian boomer who pretends everything is fine while dismissing evidence to the contrary by saying "I'm not buying it," as if that answers the question. I live in Regina, and everything @Bsbcaer is 100% true, and she simply denies it.

@Milajoy I'm amazed no one has hired a private detective to get their DNA from some items that they each used and done a comparison.

It is a FACT that Rep. Ilhan Omar married her BLOOD BROTHER because he couldn't get into the country any other way. This has been known for YEARS. They should bother be DENATURALIZED and deported. Why is no one doing anything about it?

I have no problem believing that Cesar Chavez was a sexual abuser. I have a very hard time believing that the legacy media just discovered this.

@IonaItalia @Etanarachel @Brocklesnitch Well in her case, she was all about body positivity so she CELEBRATED the fact that she was obese, which is even worse. That's why she can't turn the tables now, because she'll be a traitor to the cause.

Many fat women are loved-up in happy relationships with desirable men. In fact, it's true of almost all my female relatives! But your chances of finding a happy relationship are increased by being slender. This is evolutionary biology not fatphobia. Here's to Ozempic!
Bec Shaw@Brocklesnitch

Any article about Lindy West that doesn’t talk about her being a fat woman in a world that teaches you every single moment that you are disgusting and unworthy of love and what this means for your relationships is incomplete

@Brocklesnitch Lindy West shouldn't have accepted her situation, imho. But also if she can't find love being fat, slimming down is now a realistic option. Either way, I wish her more happiness than she currently seems to have.

@CodeMonkeyReadr @kyliebytes It removed some tension, because the flight attendants had announced that they were waiting for another passenger, so knew I was the bad guy when I was getting on the plane 😉 I mean we still left on time so it's not like I made the plane late, but still... 🤣

Since I got a bunch of "Lindy is overweight, that's why she has to go along with what her husband wants", this point is important. There's plenty of thin or normal size women who have the same fear of being alone and self-esteem issues Lindy seems to have.

@megbasham @mattpacenza @conor64 Oh I'm sure there are plenty of people in his orbit who knew what was going on, and I find it hard to believe that NONE of that information ever got out to anyone doing yet another profile about him.

@WaynesWhirled @mattpacenza @conor64 I grew up in San Joaquin Valley until 8th grade. My dad, who worked in ag, specifically cotton, knew he was a scumbag. It was frequently remarked on in the region that he was a scumbag. People knew he was a scumbag.

@mattpacenza @conor64 @megbasham The coverage of it didn't stop when he died, especially since tons of new articles would come out when they were trying to get holidays instituted. I can tell you that where I live in arizona, every year there would be articles about him generally coincident with the holiday. 🤷

@UrbanCourtyard It's comically bad. The market they had had to close because the prices were too high. No cars, so they have to give lyft coupons to residents to go get groceries. It's basically student housing for ASU. And I say this is someone who lives in an ACTUAL walkable part of Phoenix.

Culdesac is important because it shows the podium block megaproject isn’t a law of nature It shows developers can finance dense development that is chunked into many smaller buildings. 100s of units, no parking structure, multiple small buildings, narrow lanes
Culdesac@culdesac

7 years ago, we got laughed out of the room. Now, leaders from all over the country are visiting Culdesac Tempe asking, "How can I bring this to my city?"

@kyliebytes So I trudged down the aisle looking for the one empty seat and of course it was back row middle that doesn't recline. Window: tiny woman, aisle: linebacker. I asked the woman if she wanted to sit in the middle; more laughter. His and my shoulders touched the entire flight.

@kyliebytes Years ago I made an earlier Southwest flight and was the last person on a full plane. The plane had been waiting for me so when I came around the corner to look down the aisle I yelled out "who saved me a window?" and the whole plane just started laughing.🤣

@BTCBreadMan People who marry young and have nothing obviously do this (I did!). When you're older and have stuff, especially if you've already had a marriage fail, I understand the cautiousness. Also, there's plenty of room in between combining everything and combining nothing.

When I got married 15 years ago the thought of not completely merging our finances did not even occur to me. It just seemed like an obvious no-brainer that married couples 100% share their financial situation.

@conor64 @megbasham She's saying that the journalists who actually COVERED Cesar Chavez (did you?) over decades would likely have wanted to make positive stories, so that negative whispers were likely ignored or minimized. You think this doesn't happen? Also, you KNOW that's what she meant.

You're a bestselling author and journalist, and you didn't know about Cesar Chavez. I have worked at The Atlantic for 15 years and I did not know about this. Do you think that when you get hired at "legacy" outlets there's... what... a secret trove of unpublished blockbuster scoops that they show you? I don't even understand what claim you're making.
