2. Main reason is TIME. For Fresno to be able to see a launch from that far away, it has to launch close to sunset, so our skies are getting dark, but the setting sun to the west (where Vandenberg SFB is… to our south west) can still light up the exhaust trail. 2/2 @KMPHFOX26

Fairbanks, we just lived through the history books. The numbers are in, and the Dec-Mar 2025-26 season will go down as the all-time coldest on record for Fairbanks. This marks a dramatic reversal from last years 2nd warmest Dec-Mar timeframe, dropping to the record coldest. #akwx

Well researched scientific paper about the explosive growth of the #CampFire on Nov. 8, 2018 in Paradise. We know about the role wind and dry fuels had; this paper explains how spotting was just as significant.

At 7:34 AM today, Fairbanks International Airport dropped to -40°F for the 30th day this season! This puts us in a three-way tie for the 4th most -40°F days on record. This has been the 5th coldest stretch on record from December 1st to March 11th, the coldest in 55 years. #akwx

Last month, Fresno hit 80° for only the 14th time in February - ever. Records in Fresno go back to 1881. This month, could Fresno hit 90° for only the 5th time ever? It's still over 1 week away, but it's possible! - Our average mid-March highs are only in the mid 60's. #CAwx

North winds can do the exact opposite of this in places with a big mountain range to the north, like #Redding or #SantaBarbara , or a #Chinook wind in #Denver or #Calgary. Winds warm dramatically as they descend from the mountains.

The Power of Santa Ana Winds - At 2:40/2:45 PM today, strong Santa Ana winds (out of the east) had caused San Diego Int'l to reach 90F with a humidity of 9%🥵 A quick wind shift to the south meant that not even 50 minutes later the temp had fallen to 72F with a humidity of 53%😱

😳⚠️Another Large Inbounds Avalanche In France Today. Can you imagine seeing this flowing underneath you as you ride up a chairlift? Whoa... This was a natural avalanche likey size D3 (powerful enough to destroy a wood-frame house, snap large trees, or damage a small building). This happened at the Orcières ski resort in France. I-80 is closed over Donner Summit tonight. Hwy 50 is closed over Echo Summit tonight. Hwy 89 is closed over Carson Pass tonight. Hwy 49 & 20 are closed outside of Grass Valley tonight. Brutal conditions in the Sierra Nevada. I-5 over the Grapevine is still open - for now. #CAwx
