I haven't spoken to my brother in 5 years after enduring years of his abuse. Yesterday my dad told me he has a 'plan' to get us talking because apparently siblings need to be there for each other because we're 'family'. No. Just because you're related to someone doesn't mean they're family. Why should it always be on the victims to be the ones to 'make amends'?

I hear a lot of autistics say “I know what I need to do, but I just can’t do it.” And society hears laziness. But what’s actually happening is that there are too many demands - too much uncertainty - too much shame - and no safety. Our bodies are speaking to us.

“Have faith,” Jesus tells us in the #GospelOfTheDay (Jn 14:1). That is the secret! It is precisely this faith that frees our hearts from the anxiety of possessing and acquiring, and from the illusion that we must pursue a position of prestige to have worth. Each person already has infinite worth in the mystery of God.

Today we celebrate World Press Freedom Day, sponsored by UNESCO. Unfortunately, this right is often violated, sometimes flagrantly, sometimes in hidden ways. Let us remember the many journalists and reporters who are victims of war and violence.

Reminder: Autism is NOT a mental illness. In 2026, we should not have to remind people that autism is not a mental illness. Autism spectrum is a literal neurodevelopmental disorder which is not presented in appearances. Self-diagnosis and diagnosis are both considered valid in the autism community and by many clinicians. I'm grateful today to have a voice with the ability to self-advocate because that's how I'm very close to a formal diagnosis of autism. I am proud of myself.
