Magazine archives are less of a product to “solve” & more of a marketing & resources problem.
Dealt with this @NatGeo & yes, we had 130+ years of incredible history but marketing past issues was so much harder compared to marketing new issues/stories/talent/news/etc

49 years ago today, May 11, 1977…Ted Turner managed the Atlanta Braves.

49 years ago today Ted Turner (who was suspended as an owner pending litigation) managed a game for the Braves.
Afterwards, Commissioner Bowie Kuhn reached out to Ted, ordering him to cut it out . Owners couldn’t be managers & Ted didn’t have the “necessary baseball management experience.”
Ted responded by calling Kuhn with a serious question: “How else was he going to get the experience?”
Kuhn: “In the stands, like other owners. Why can't you be like everybody else?”
Ted replied: “Because I'm in last place!”

49 years ago TODAY., with the Braves on a 16 game losing streak, Ted Turner decided to manage the Atlanta Braves. After losing, Ted took it in stride, proudly saying: “We only lost by 1 run. Not too shabby.”
