What about the kids who don’t get picked and spend their entire childhoods in the system just to get too old to stay and kicked out to halfway houses or just on the streets?

Honestly I think his point is that to support it would mean he at some point had to stand before God and explain the death of a baby by his hands. You speak as if he's malicious, and while the statement is hard to comprehend for me. I do believe this is how he meant it. You don't care about an unborn child, he stated that he did, even in the most gruesome circumstances.
