Let’s put some facts on the table when it comes to the Liberals and Nationals and Qantas:
- The Howard Government sided with Qantas and did nothing when Ansett collapsed.
- The Liberals and Nationals sided with Joyce and Qantas in 2011 when it grounded its fleet and locked out the workforce.
- The Morrison Government sided with Qantas and did nothing when Virgin went into administration.
- The Morrison Government handed Qantas $2.7 billion of taxpayers money without any rules or requirements, only for them to deliver a record profit a few years later and refuse to pay a cent back.
- The Morrison Government sided with Qantas when they sacked 1700 workers - 3 court judgments subsequently found the sackings to be illegal.
That’s the Liberals and Nationals record on Qantas.
@HaydenJOConnor@RhysParton@KosSamaras@AlboMP There’s a myriad things that could’ve been done to better explain how the Voice will work. Langton and Calma’s report was an excellent piece of work. Clear, well thought out, accessible. None of that richness has come out in the discussion.
The 3 traits of a Yes vote.
Age - under 34
Education - University Degree or above
Diversity - especially migrants who arrived 2000 onwards
Federal Seats that have all 3, should record a high Yes vote.
There are only a few but Parramatta is stand out.
Federal Seats that have 2 of these traits should still record strong levels of support for Voice.
Teal seats, Greens seats, Labor inner urban seats.
Seats that have low levels of the 3 traits should record the highest No vote. New England and many other National Party seats. The No vote will be even higher if these seats also contain a high number of middle aged low income residents who only speak English at home.
Outer suburban seats in Melbourne and Sydney have lots of diversity but lower levels of higher education. They harbour a combination of new migrants but are offset by poorer and older residents who only speak English at home. So support for the Voice here may end up a little higher than the national average but some may not record wins.
@somewherein84 I have a right to an opinion, and if that makes me “embarrassingly anti Dan” then so be it. Perhaps you need to get some perspective on life.
By the way, you know they are promising to still build ALL the regional venues, right? But I’m sure you blindly agree because Dan said.
@billisdoing Then why accept it in the first place, Bill? Properly crunch some numbers and then multiply it by the “major event / project” factor to get a sense for you you’re getting yourself into. Oh - and I see all the committed new stadiums are still going to be built. How does that work?
I’m just saying, sometimes I’d love a good lockdown to come back. I miss the quiet times where you didn’t have to pretend to like people you really don’t …
Just want to let you all know that after a long career at the top I’m currently considering my future. It’s been a blast. I’ll update you all very soon.

Congratulations @juliette_io and @migga for receiving OAMs today! The effort you guys put in to collect and analyse data and build accessible and informative websites during the pandemic was amazing. Bravo! 👏

A top of 19 today with a little rain about.
On this day in 1914 Australia entered WW1 with 400,000 directly participating in combat and non-combat roles.
Today is the 2nd anniversary of this account, so just a little nostalgia for old times’ sake. Lots of love, carry on xx
11am for the final daily covid presser. After today details will come in a pre-midday press release. I’ve officially been made redundant.
I leave you with the immortal words of Vinnie Jones:
Happy 80%! If you’re out walking you can take the mask off now! And all the other stuff like shop and leave Melbourne 😊 Sooo good to be at this point, all eyes towards 90% in November!!
If you missed the presser:
80% DD hits 6pm Friday. Retail, gyms etc open, no more metro / regional divide
At 90% DD (~ 24 Nov) no masks (except certain spaces), no caps, no density limits
Here’s your mission: if you’ve had your first jab make sure you get your second!
