We need to ask ourselves, 'if southeastern Benin Republic... are not exclusively labelled Fonland or Oguland despite Benin's predominant Fon/Ogu populations, how then can southwest Nigeria be Yorubaland?'

'Southwestern Nigeria' and 'Yorubaland' are not the same thing — and conflating them isn't just historically wrong, it has real consequences for who gets resources, recognition and political power today.
This essay is uncomfortable, necessary and overdue. Read here:

@niyiakinmolayan @Sci_in_Yoruba Well, yes, but I think it is essentially an INDIGENOUS concept relating to travel and mobility that every Yoruba person can easily and readily understand or relate to.
English

@WheelHelms @Sci_in_Yoruba But a rocket is not a teleportation machine
English

Had so much fun Oluko. Thanks for having me. We still need to figure out “Rocket” 🤣🤣🤣
Ọlálékàn.@LekanFabilola
bai! You did very great. You gave me assignment. Deeply honoured! wo ṣe bai!
English

@niyiakinmolayan @Sci_in_Yoruba I think Egbé is the Yorùbá traditional conception of "teleportation". So, Egbédẹ̀rọ maps modern-day techno-science onto a deeply traditional idea.
That is, teleportation machine.

@LekanQuadri_ @sesiseun @MartinsAdedeji3 @Mautiin01 Me I don talk am as I see am. Time will come when we go torchlight how many billions Sesi sef dey “WALK AWAY WITH EVERY MONTH”. When that time comes, I go remind una.
There is a saying about those who live in glass houses …
English

@WheelHelms @sesiseun @MartinsAdedeji3 @Mautiin01 I did not see any anger in his response. His name is being pulled in and he responded accurately. There is no other way in my opinion. Besides, he is a constituent as well, so he can ask questions or make statements like everyone of us. How would you replied?
English

While I won’t believe a fb post until I see a verified date
Attention will be brought on it

English

@sesiseun @LekanQuadri_ @MartinsAdedeji3 @Mautiin01 I do honestly feel that @sesiseun could have typed something a lot better than this if he allowed the anger he felt on seeing the mentions to settle a bit! Seems to me that the bile beneath this comment is more graphic than even the attached video!
English

@LekanQuadri_ @MartinsAdedeji3 @Mautiin01 The last time this particular health centre got any attention. This is from my personal income while the local government chairman in the person of Hon Onilude walks away with half a billion every month for 8years

@StartArchiving I saw this image on someone’s page earlier and they did not even add any acknowledgement, but I immediately felt convinced that it must be from @StartArchiving. It’s the only platform I know that digitises this perfectly!

At 12:15 am this morning
11/11/2024 lleft my house to go see how the people that were affected by Nyesom wike
demolition were faring, believe it is the most heartbreaking thing I ever did human beings
being made to live like an!m^ls,innocent children
sleeping in the cold without bedsheets to cover up, not even nets to protect them from
mosquitoes, the elderly, the nursing mothers all out there in the cold, some of them already sick because of the harsh harmattan weather, if it was
to rain it will rain on them,if the sun was hot it will be on their skin, dear honorable minister of
FCT NYESOM WIKE this is inhumane and nobody
should go through this type of treatment I don't know what you need the land for and i sincerely don't care please I beg you don't just leave these
people stranded like this, relocate them and
compensate them, for the sake of these little Innocent children and the nursing mothers
please do something,I believe you are a father please do something about this

@Google @googlechrome Why isn't there a Google #Doodle for #Soyinka today? Or am I missing something?
English

@waliualao This right here is a dimwit and a scumbag! The interviewer should have pulled an "Oga At The Top" moment on him by asking him the meaning OF NYSC, because It's clear he doesn't even k ow that.
English

This is sad to watch. At the risk of sounding extreme, I’m more than worried about the dearth of ideological teachings among Nigerian students of this era. A constituency that gave some of us platform for healthy leadership should not descend this low. How do I place this? Shame!

@kolatubosun @egbeatelewo @YorubaHistory Also, I have not seen a photo of him on the covers of any of his publications, even the recent reprints/editions!
English

@kolatubosun @egbeatelewo @YorubaHistory Interesting. Thank you!
But this comes to me like a hand-drawn image. But we actually have camera-produced images of many of his contemporaries everywhere on the internet.
