@ChaiAndMiles I had done only 2 nights at the Ritz in Nikko as wanted to cover Nikko cause of autumn foliage and it was honeymoon. Rest were all Accor swissotel/mercures. Hospitality in general was amazing like Japan as such, however status recognition wasn’t that great in respect of upgrades.

Just finalizing one trip for later this year in November. My daughter wants to celebrate her birthday in Phu Quoc. She has technically been to Vietnam before, but she was far too young to remember any of it, so this will feel like her first real visit. I’ve booked a few nights at JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay and a couple of nights at Sheraton Phu Quoc. I was tempted to try Regent this time, but the cash rates are simply too expensive to justify. We’ll also spend a few nights in Hanoi at the Grand Mercure before heading to a property that has been on my radar for quite some time: Jiva Hoa Lu Retreat in Ninh Binh. A few friends recently stayed there and had great things to say. The property has recently joined Hilton through the SLH partnership, so as a Hilton Diamond and SLH Club 02 member, I’m hoping for an upgrade, though the property itself is the main attraction. Even without an upgrade, Jiva is one of the places I’ve wanted to experience for a while, alongside Banyan Tree Lang Co. I do have a booking for Banyan Tree Lang Co in December, but that may have to be cancelled as work might take me to the US around the same time.

Loyalty programs will come and go, but there is simply nothing out there like Accor. I REPEAT: NOTHING LIKE ACCOR! 🤯 That is almost ₹13L of savings on a single trip. Insane. Haven’t even added other tiny stays during this stay in total.

However, SRH in 2013 acquired the 2012 DC team and retained the same, released some players, etc, like any other team. It’s remained Hyderabad and only ownership and name change. So in effect, the same team.
