@la_dorkout Most modern art is ugly garbage. This guy did a much better job on the same subject, plus it's actually aesthetically pleasing and makes you use your brain:

When Edward Kienholz's "Back Seat Dodge '38" debuted at LACMA in 1966 as a comment on puritanical views of sex, it was considered so offensive, museum funding was threatened. LACMA agreed to open the car door to "peek in" only during specific times...adding, natch, to its allure.

@reason One of the very first laws passed by the first United States Congress was to establish tariffs to fund the government. These were literally the Founding Fathers. The Tariff of 1789 was sponsored by James Madison and signed into law by George Washington.

@DrunkRepub The realm of podcast politics is barely clinging to any semblance of reason or sanity at this point. It’s like a whirlwind of gaslighting, ignorance and straight up grifting. Not a promising state of affairs to say the least.

March 27, 1845 German physicist Wilhelm Röntgen was born in Lennep. In 1895 he first produced and detected electromagnetic radiation in a wavelength range today known as x-rays or Röntgen rays, an achievement that earned him the first Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901.

@DrunkRepub Trump made tremendous progress. He was building a popular long-term movement. The GOP was going to keep the House and Senate. Then he threw it all away on behalf of Israel. Now MAGA is going to get massacred in the midterms, like a toddler in Gaza. It's all gone.

The war in Iran has sadly gifted a segment of the pundit class with the talking point that Trump has abandoned his “America First” philosophy. It’s total bullshit, of course, as the 47th President, hardly a year into his second term, has instituted numerous policies aimed at quickly and vastly improving Americans’ lives. First and foremost he secured the border. The influx of illegals was negatively affecting all of us in myriad ways, from rush hour traffic to hospital wait times to rent prices. This simple and straightforward act, enacted immediately after he took office, has led to a 5-year low in overdoses and no doubt contributed to the recent 21% reduction in homicides. And thanks to Trump’s federal intervention, the once-great urban centers of Memphis and Washington D.C. are relatively safe once again. More cities are sure to follow. On the employment front he’s tacked on a $100,000 H-1B fee to help American workers compete with cheaper foreign labor and mandated that all truck drivers be proficient in English, an order that may free up to 200,000 jobs for American truckers. Wages are up more than 4% across the board since he was sworn in last year. Add to this this the fact he’s banned institutional investors from buying up homes, which should increase supply and reduce prices, and Americans will soon see long overdue gains. Hell he’s even reached into our allies’ pockets by instituting reciprocal tariffs to ensure American businesses can compete, withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord to free up energy, and making NATO pay their fair share to ease our budget burden. I could go on (he’s also challenged birthright citizenship), but I think we all get the point. In a mere 14 months Trump has done more to help working Americans than perhaps any President in my lifetime. Of course the left and the far right, which have become virtually indistinguishable from one another, are more interested in power than improving lives. So don’t expect them to start acknowledging the progress the President has made on the home front. But despite the war, and the varying (and often reasonable) objections to it, Trump has proven he can walk and chew gum at the same time. We should all be looking very forward to the next 3 years.

@akarlin @phl43 The Israeli state itself was born of terrorism. David Ben-Gurion, Menachem Begin, and Yitzhak Shamir were terrorists who later became Prime Minister of Israel.

@phl43 Israel views the Iranian regime less as a state with all the privileges that pertain to such, and more as a terrorist organization that took a large nation hostage. Considering its record of sponsoring terrorism against Jews and Israelis, I don't even think that's unreasonable.

The fact that Israel and the US are killing civilian officials is already crazy enough, but I don't think people realize how utterly insane it is that Israel even put Aragchi, a diplomat, on a kill list. Even Attila and Gengis Khan respected the immunity of diplomats.

Credible reporting that the Israelis literally wanted noone left to talk to in Tehran even its foreign minister and had to be told to take him off the kill list. reuters.com/world/asia-pac…

@DrunkRepub Now that President Trump has started an unnecessary war on behalf of Israel, it's VERY interesting to see all the formerly right-wing accounts shilling for the interests of Israel, rather than the interests of America and Americans. Yes, I'm looking at you "DrunkRepub".

About 500 Afrikaner Refugees leaving every other day, according to eyewitness reports at Johannesburg Airport. The South African Government deeply concerned over dwindling tax base as hundreds of thousands of thousands of Afrikaners (and other whites) leave, or have already left the country. The biggest concern is over-reliance on the small white taxpayer base: If too many more top earners emigrate, the tax base will shrink to critical level from which there is little chance of recovery. One of our Afrikaner contributors said, "On the one hand they hate us and want us dead and gone, while on the other hand they want our taxes. They will soon learn that they can't have both!"
