@logorn_gadum On a side note, what was 343's problem with the UNSC? Why are they pricks in both Halo 4 and 5? For Bungie it was always Humanity vs the Covenant. We're all together and we'll die together. 343 turned Chief against the UNSC in 4 and 5 And the UNSC didn't even exist in Infinite.

This is something I've been thinking on a long time. Thanks for reminding me. Locke as a character is failure. 343 were trying to make a 'rival' character for chief, like bungie did for Halo 2. The problem is there's nothing special about him. Arbiter is an alien on the enemy side, his narrative is completely different. In Halo 5, Locke is just a quiet cranky spartan who's supposed to find chief. What's special to him? Nothing. He's just another spartan four, the most generic of the spartans.

@justahaloguy Rookie and 6 aren't real characters. They're self inserts for the player. As was chief in CE-3 They have a limited personality and background in the world but they're just a suit of armour you move about in. You're criticizing them for something they were never intended to be.

This is an interesting point. Locke was a great character in a game people didn’t enjoy. Noble Six and Rookie weren’t all that great of characters, but they were placed in stories people did enjoy.

@Sen_Works @Slonk01 MCC is nice, but still broken in numerous ways. From a game preservation standpoint it's still terrible. Reach has missing lighting and shader effects in every single Cutscene for example. MCC should be the final preservation of classic Halo and it's currently not good enough

After having played the OG games on OG hardware instead of MCC, it is genuinely such a crime how insanely lame the menus in MCC are. So much potential to do something insanely cool for THE collection of games, and it just got squandered for whatever reason

@Misterlegodude It kinda also makes Lone Wolf in Reach less special. It used to be the Secret Post-Credits scene. A suprise level after the end of the game. Now that the credits are gone, it's just the next level. MCC's ugly loading screens that spoil the levels don't help either 😒

@C_JuniorsMagic This wasn't in a tutorial but selecting the switch point on the map does change it instantly. Works on KBM and controller but I am on PC. A lack of tutorialization is a problem I've found with this game. I found this feature randomly whilst doing a shunting challenge.

@TheHiddenOneAC You had to learn parkour and stealth to make it to somewhere you could reset your notoriety. It wasn't perfect by any means. But it was close. Combat was still simple, but escaping it was not. And because notoriety increased fast, you were pushed away from open combat

@TheHiddenOneAC The main problem with classic combat in AC2-4 wasn't how easy it was. It's that there was nothing to ballance AGAINST how easy it was. AC3 almost solved that with its notoriety system. Combat was easy, but the enemies never stopped coming and they were EVERYWHERE.

The appeal for classic combat is just a strong desire for the finishers. I mean look at this video he's referencing. It's a finisher showcase, NOT a combat showcase. We want the cinematic style finishers back, but can we not pretend the old one button counter kill combat was superior gameplay to literal hitbox based combat? You are lying to yourself at that point.

Assassin's Creed's classic combat system with those FIRE finisher animations will ALWAYS be superior to the new RPG damage numbers combat with enemies that take 50 slashes to defeat just because you don't have a purple sword. We need a return to this.

@HiddenXperia How was the pacing of the level and the dialogue? In the trailer, it felt like things were crammed together, there wasn't much down time before or after encounters. Things went by way too fast. Is this sprint? Is the level actually smaller? Or is it both?

@LateNightHalo I'm confused as to why it's all really pointy and overly detailed. All panel lines, sharp angles and triangles. It feels more futuristic and techy than mysterious and ancient IMO. Not being as clean and reflective would probably help too.

I do hope the forerunner stuff is worked on a bit more. Infinite’s forerunner stuff felt a bit more in the spirit of CE. This forerunner stuff is cool but the reflectivity is a bit much. It sorta feels like a hallway of mirrors at points. That forerunner ambience is lost
