It was there all this time

Unreal Engine (and Unity ofc) lowered the bar so much by making game dev a lot more accessible. It meant that we got more junk but also more devs with a genuine desire to make good games without a big budget. But as a result and an over reliance on asset packs, a lot of those games look and feel the same. With DLSS 5, and further advancements in AI for gaming, we will probably lazier dev and/or more beginner projects that look the same. I don’t think it’ll destroy gaming or be the end of the world. It’ll just further highlight games made without a reliance on the tech vs those that rely on it.

People saying that DLSS 5 makes a game look better are missing the point that it takes away from the unique look and feel of a game. If a dev intended to have some AI generated filter on top to tune up the lighting etc then fine. But no way should this be normalised.
