Illegal alien, Emmanuel Lopez Tlacomulco, 38, "of East Chicago, Illinois," ran a red light, causing a violent three-vehicle crash that left a Portage grandmother, her 3-year-old grandchild, and another truck driver with significant injuries Wednesday morning (7/8/2026). The grandmother was airlifted to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois. And the 3-year-old was airlifted to the University of Chicago Children’s Hospital. The other truck driver was transported to Franciscan Health Crown Point for treatment. The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department arrested Tlacomulco and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed an immigration hold on him due to his undocumented immigration status.
