All things considered, this will be a brutal loss for the poker community should regulators prevail here. Fraudulent businesses continue to operate while siphoning billions from the gov’t, yet the focus is on a friendly, self-sustaining poker room instead. Sad state of affairs.

I have read Search and Seizure Warrant against The Lodge in full, and it does appear to be a witch hunt. Essentially, they're deeming poker in TX illegal and therefore classifying what we'd consider normal banking transactions as money laundering because it's proceeds from what they say is illegal gambling. All the undercover operations outlined in the affidavit describe a normally functioning, well-run poker room. To me, nothing in it suggests what we in the poker world would consider scandalous/nefarious, but rather authorities simply taking a stance on the grey area/loophole that they consider illegal. I don’t know the details of what you’re referring to, and you guys have your own issues, but I feel compelled to stand up for Doug in this instance because I know how much time and effort he’s put into making the room as good as possible - to look after players, employees, and shareholders, and to ensure a lot of safety measures are in place that plenty of other rooms don’t have. I could give many examples of him going above and beyond, but personally guaranteeing players will get their funds back when it’s likely going to be somewhere in the 7-figure range speaks volumes on its own. I’d be surprised to find out Doug ignored good advice if it was feasible to implement. To my knowledge, we’ve run everything above board so it’s hard not to feel like this is a witch hunt that negatively affects thousands of people in the industry - it’s devastating. We’re still waiting on a lot of information so I guess we’ll see what happens, but this seems objectively bad that certain groups are attempting to shut poker down in Texas. Since I personally know the ones affected by this, seeing you say you’d side with the people who are on the other side, who oppose poker, is extremely disappointing.
