@WildFox_Int @dtoxmilenko the main difference is that not only is it in the EULA but it was and is massively broadcast as a huge selling point of the game, like there is ZERO chance you can install valorant without understanding that you are giving them a ton of control over your computer

Hot take. Riot completely has the right to stop cheat hardware and software from running, while their software is installed. This is the agreement you and Riot made together when installing their software. Riot does not have the right, to make it persistent, even after you uninstall it. That makes them malicious, even if you're a cheating git gud faker.

Level 0 program can literaly affect anything even how many volt is used on a specific place of your mother board...

Well, that escalated quickly. There’s been a wave of claims by cheaters about Vanguard “bricking” their PCs, so let’s clear that up: Vanguard does not damage hardware or disable your devices. The photo we posted is a picture of cheat hardware devices that are sold explicitly for cheating in VALORANT (not normal PCs or PC components). Through our latest updates, Vanguard now makes those devices worthless for VAL, but does not in any way brick PCs or PC components or PC software. Our latest update enforces standard platform security features, like the Input-Output Memory Management Unit (IOMMU), on accounts identified as using Direct Memory Access (DMA) cheating devices. These protections are already part of modern systems and when enabled, they block DMA cheat devices (such as those shown in the photo) from accessing memory in downstream applications, like our games. If a cheat setup continues attempting to cheat after those protections are enabled, the system may generate hardware faults or instability. This is expected behavior under IOMMU when attempts are made to read protected memory. Disabling IOMMU allows the cheat device to function again, but IOMMU will still be required to play our games. This means the cheat device won’t work with our games, but your PC isn’t “bricked.” We would not, and cannot, impact your PC’s functionality in any other fashion. This functionality only applies to systems attempting to use DMA cheat devices, and players who are not using DMA-based cheat setups are not affected. We’ll keep investing in anti-cheat to protect competitive integrity, and we’ll keep being as transparent as possible about how those systems work.

@mogisome @riotgames TOS isn't above laws. Imagine a TOS that say you cant play any other game. or that you can't talk to other people or that you organs are owned by the compagny... It's a contract nothing else and if it break the laws it is invalid.

@riotgames Did yall read the TOS when installing? If you didnt, like the 99% here didnt it seems, youd know that Riot games is not liabale for any hardware losses from using or interacting with the game/vanguard. You know what you are getting, you pressed I Accept/Understand.

@riotgames So it's a malware and you use it as a malware. Yes you target the hacker but its still a malware that you can update any time and change the target.

the problem is the COULD BE cheating. Like you run linux on your windows bam your bricked. Another anti cheat looking the memory bricked. The realy big issue is how they determine your cheating. They dont. If they see something suspitious your tagged as cheater no question asked.

@Olivyre_ @2FD2_ thats the part you didnt get it dont affect only those devices. But all deviced and can be triggered if your using some program that access the memory. And those are not for cheat but mainly for work. Also it is triggered by device such as elgato so bye bye streamers.

@2FD2_ It denies a single device, that is more often than not in a 2nd system, communicating with your main system. Your system still works without said device. You being purposely dense?

I really hate people and their inability to read. It doesn't brick your system, it targets the DMA's firmware only and it's ability to communicate with your system and the game.

Game: Valorant AC: Vanguard (VGK) Today’s Vanguard anti-cheat update blocked the majority of DMA firmwares using SATA/NVMe. VGK suddenly triggered an IOMMU restart warning in-game, after which the DMA firmware becomes completely unusable, even without the game running or after uninstalling Vanguard. Only fix is a full OS reinstall. It’s using IOMMU to create read blocks, which permanently breaks the majority of almost all SATA/NVMe firmwares once triggered. Even the advanced H2-board got affected. Confirmed Firmware Block wave by @ItsGamerDoc

@Lord_RFirgens @riotgames the issue here is that vanguard litteraly break your pc because it mess with memory access it should not and make it unusable. Vanguard is so deep in your pc it could literally make your pc catch fire.
