We believe so much in you Sir, this is exactly how the College of medicine, UNEC is treating it's students. Like street dogs. They're trying to take away our voices. What really is the fate of the common man? Lend us your voice @PeterObi and every well meaning Nigerian.
Peter Obi@PeterObi

Humanity is paramount in my politics, no street urchins Lately, I have heard a few people say that those who follow Peter Obi are low-class Nigerians, and some have even gone as far as calling them “street urchins” and people of no value. It is deeply unfortunate that in today’s Nigeria, citizens now look down on fellow citizens in such a degrading manner. I have never and will never look down on anyone, except to lift them up. After all, we can only rise by lifting others. My involvement in politics has never been about associating with the so-called high and mighty, but about standing with the ordinary Nigerians whose voices have been silenced and whose resources have been stolen by the same “big names” who now parade themselves with all sorts of titles and names. No Nigerian is of no value. No Nigerian is a street urchin. It speaks volumes about the state of our nation that everyday Nigerians, are now battered by poverty and hardship, to the point their leaders refer to them as of no value, and urchins. Every Nigerian deserves dignity, opportunity, and care. That is why I will continue to do my part to ensure that the ordinary Nigerians enjoy a better life, one built on access to education, quality healthcare, and genuine efforts to lift them out of poverty. True leadership is not about mocking the weak, it is about lifting them up. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

ALLEGEDLY... The decision to impose the ₦30,000 and ₦60,000 payments on students of the Faculties of Health Sciences and Basic Medical Sciences, and the Faculties of Dental and Clinical Sciences respectively. It is claimed that this decision was reached under the leadership of the current Provost, and Deans of the respective faculties being part of the deliberations. But let’s remember — these are decisions made by humans, individuals whom students hold in high esteem. So, some questions must be asked: Can’t the students’ voices be heard? Why must payment be enforced right now, especially before exams? Can’t this decision be reviewed or reversed? Why can’t students know the explicit reasons behind these dues? Why are there no clear answers to these questions? The Federal Government allocated ₦44.38 billion to this university in 2025 — so, where is that money going? Students of the College of Medicine, UNEC, have little to boast of. The justification behind the ₦30,000 “college dues” supposedly includes reagents, mannequins, logistics, and exam expenses — but does that really make sense? Nigerians, please hear us out. Do you know how much students spend on accommodation off campus, coupled with rising school fees and the skyrocketing cost of food? Even the most basic things — from cooking to bathing water in hostels — are paid for out of pocket. Our hostel structures are dilapidated, unsafe, and unfit for students of a premier institution. The recent fire incident caused by electrical faults speaks volumes. The dream of Zik, the founding vision of the University of Nigeria, is being shredded from its roots — and we seem to be watching silently. The quality of education today determines the quality of leadership tomorrow. If this continues, are we truly nurturing leaders or raising sycophants? The University of Nigeria receives the highest federal allocation in the country… Yet, here we are. 😔💔

Happy 65th Anniversary to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka — a vision birthed by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe to restore the dignity of man. 65 years later, many students are asking: Where is that dignity today? When students pay for almost everything — from water to reagents — yet study in dilapidated hostels, face new unexplained dues, and struggle to afford food, we must pause and reflect. UNN was founded to shape minds and build leaders. But how do you build leaders when survival has become the primary focus of learning? May the University of Nigeria not only celebrate her past glories but also live up to the dream that birthed her — a dream where dignity, fairness, and true education thrive again. 💚🦁 #UNNAt65 #UNNStudentsSpeak #EducationInCrisis #SAYNOTOANYDEVLEVY #NOTO30OR60K #NOTO30KPAYMENT #NOTO60KPAYMENT #FIX_COLLEGE_OF_MEDICINE_UNEC

He is the man stopping us all from writing the exams without payments. The DVC UNEC instructed that exams should go on and this 30k shouldn't disturb the school, it's exams and the environment. It makes me wonder, if he, The Provost has his umbilicus tied to the fact that we must make this payment. Like the Dean of Health Sciences always say; "He's a man of God, he won't eat your money" 😭 We are wondering why you'll all the way from Ituku halt the exams of Faculties under you because of 30k which is already visible in the School fees breakdown #SAYNOTOANYDEVLEVY #NOTO30OR60K #NOTO30KPAYMENT #NOTO60KPAYMENT #FIX_COLLEGE_OF_MEDICINE_UNEC

@CollegeUnec @ruffydfire @PeterObi Imagine most of us here are surviving through the students loan scheme #NELFUND We're obtaining loans because we don't have to cater for our academic needs and the management now still have the guts to demand for 30k alleged as developmental Levy. It's a totally extortion

This memorandum was released by the immediate past SUG stating the stance of students on this matter. The different faculties sprung into action and made sure it wasn't paid in the First semester.
