BANK OF ENGLAND'S BAILEY SAYS FUEL TAX FREEZE COULD AFFECT UK HOUSEHOLDS' INFLATION VIEWS.

Over the weekend I had a couple of solar installers come to the house and design a system. Sadly, given the design of the house/roof, I cannot place panels on the truly south facing rear of the house, but instead the south west facing garage. Which is shaded. That aside, they specced out a 10 panel + 11.5kw battery system and quoted for the work. I took this quote and threw it into Claude to build a spreadsheet to calculate true IRR as their numbers are vastly over inflated. Turns out that solar in Scotland is utter garbage. IRR 15 years minimum. However, a battery only system, taking advantage of cheaper overnight rates is the true arbitrage. Anyone thinking of installing solar + battery in the UK, especially the north, give up. Just install batteries and perform some energy arbitrage of your own. If you run one or two electric cars the payback is even better and quicker.
