Trump stood there, chest out, that extraordinary hair doing whatever it does, and announced to the assembled cameras of the world that Ukraine was absolutely the last country he would ever consider asking for help. Seven days later, someone in the Pentagon picked up the phone. The truly staggering part is not the incompetence. Incompetence is everywhere, it’s practically ambient at this point. No, what takes your breath away is the confidence. These people were not quietly embarrassed and privately regrouping. They were strutting. Full chest, full volume, telling the world how this was going to go. It did not go that way. Ukraine, the country they don’t need, is now apparently quite necessary. Oh man, one of the SF titans is gone. I worked with Dan multiple times, including an adaptation of the Hyperion Cantos for Martin Scorsese. In my opinion, those four novels are the greatest works of science fiction ever written. Dan was a good man, and literally, a genius.

After several tries, I have come up with this as a potential cover for my future scifi western. What are your thoughts on this? #scifiwestern

As is often the case, I like to play around with covers long before I finish a book, or even start one. Here is what I did this week for the novel I only just mentioned, just to give an idea of the title etc.

I've been thinking about my next book after the current one & I've settled on an idea from 4 years ago (see post attachement). On top of the original notes, I've added a bunch more. I'm calling it The Hellfellows of Floodwood #scifiwestern
