@WilliamHaveron Yep, "who you know" for sure. I have no good friends and don't associate with much family, so... Mom helped me get the job at DG after searching for months because the manager's ex-husband was my sister's husband at the time, and mom talked to her when she'd go in.

Talking about "social capital" in "Hillbilly Elegy." Something I've never heard of before but pretty much is "it's who you know" in getting a job that sums it up - and my social capital is pretty crappy I suppose. I think it's why people who always seem to quit jobs...

Yesterday I drove into Austin on 290 West for the first time in a couple of years. Fellini's film Roma and Arcade Fire's The Suburbs were evoked. Dehumanizing urban sprawl on spin cycle. Deeply depressing.
