@FLFreedomRead Not gonna touch the heart button on this one. As someone who trains parents and teachers in using the Love and Logic approach, they are missing the point big time!

Constantly referring to students as “clowns” and blaming the mass teacher exodus from the profession on student behavior misses the mark on so many levels. Scapegoating students that obviously are in need of more support, not less, will not fix the real issues w/public ed.

@FLFreedomRead Can you help me understand- Are these two books in the library and only available to grades 4-5 (with parent consent)? How does an elementary library divide up their collection like this? Ways to just extend the reach of the bigotry from K-3 to K-12!! 😡

Again we see (like in Clay) it was deemed inappropriate to keep picture books in MS/HS. Also, because of the district’s interpretation of HB1557, these books will not be accessible to K-3 - only grades 4 & 5 with parental consent can read I AM JAZZ & WHEN AIDEN BECAME A BROTHER.

For those in Manatee County, your district has held an ongoing library materials review committee since July. We have not seen any challenge forms, but most of the books being reviewed happen to be on FLCA’s list. manateeschools.net/Page/11583
