@LeftyWinter Bad idea. There's a reason most businesses fail in the first 5 years and only a small percentage survive past 10.

I've learned some small businesses are run on a socialist model where the CEO + employees make the same wage, they all have the same healthcare benefits, travel benefits, unlimited PTO. The job votes on what to do when they make a profit (everyone gets a new car as an example). Must be nice.

Who built the America you benefit from every day? Social Security. Medicare. The Civil Rights Act. The Voting Rights Act. The 40-hour work week. Overtime protections. The last balanced federal budgets. Democrats did. A lot of Americans inherited the results so completely they forgot who fought for them in the first place. If you voted Democrat, you helped build this country. If you didn’t, you still live inside what they built. And it’s not too late to figure out who’s actually spent decades moving America forward while others screamed “socialism” every single step of the way. People will drive on public roads, collect Social Security, use Medicare, cash unemployment checks, send their kids to public schools, then turn around and ask what Democrats ever accomplished. Historical object permanence continues to beat this country’s ass.
P a u l ◉@SkylineReport

People keep talking about Democrats like they’ve never materially improved America. But let’s look at the scoreboard. • The last president to deliver multiple consecutive budget surpluses? Bill Clinton. • Social Security? FDR. • Medicare & Medicaid? LBJ. • Civil Rights Act & Voting Rights Act? LBJ. • Minimum wage, overtime protections, major child labor restrictions? FDR-era Democrats. • FMLA protections? Clinton. • Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act? Obama. Even the modern middle class was heavily built through Democratic-backed programs like the GI Bill, labor protections, federal home loans, and expanded access to college. And when people talk about “fiscal responsibility,” it’s worth remembering: The only modern presidents to move the federal budget into sustained surplus were Democrats. [1][2] A lot of what Americans now consider “normal civilization” came from policies Republicans originally fought, mocked, or called socialism. People inherited the benefits so completely they forgot who built them.

A 2020 showed the venom from honey bees wiping out the cell membranes from aggressive breast cancer. The healthy cells were mostly spared. It’s been SIX YEARS without any human trials. Why? My guess, Big Pharma makes more money from chemo. They’re putting profits over people.

This is not politics as usual. We’ve never had an openly authoritarian leader in office. Nor have we had a party totally subservient to their leader. We must resist as such during these not normal times.

Thanks to Trump and Republicans’ refusal to extend the ACA subsidies, ACA premiums are up 58% this year, leading 5 million Americans to forgo health care coverage altogether. In the richest country in the world, no one should worry about being able to afford a trip to the doctor.

I pay $1,138.00 per month for my wife and I with a $6,000. deductible each, $10,000 max out of pocket per year means we pay $23,000 before insurance kicks in. This is not insurance. It's a rip off.
Mark Cuban@mcuban

Ok. Take government completely out of healthcare. No rules. No laws. No Medicare. No Medicaid. Hospitals, insurance companies, can do anything they want. What do they do ? If you were running any of the biggest insurance companies or hospitals, what would you do differently once gov was completely out of healthcare ?

@OrevaZSN Every dollar wasted on taxes is a dollar denied to the workforce. It’s not like they horde their billions, it’s mostly invested in businesses that employ people. Far better to spend that money directly into the working class than giving it to greedy politicians to waste.

I’ll never understand why people don’t want to tax billionaires more. They would still be billionaires. You’re not really taking anything from them, just what they’re hoarding. They’ve profited off everyone else, so shouldn’t they give back?

@ashleyschendel Eating out has it's perks and tipping is just part of it as far as I'm concerned. But in most cases I enjoy our home cooking more because it's healthier and just tastes better.

A lot of families are not out here making a moral argument about tipping every weekend. They just looked at the total a few too many times and changed their habits. When dinner for 3 starts costing what groceries used to cost for several days, cooking at home stops feeling like the backup plan. It becomes the obvious choice.
Ashley Schendel@ashleyschendel

When we actually do go out to eat, we tip at least 20%. That part isn’t really the issue. The issue is that menu prices are higher, drinks are higher, taxes are higher, and then people act like 30% on top should be automatic. At some point, regular families don’t argue about it. They just stop going out.

@MetamateDaz It's written to benefit business owners in general. Billionaires are the popular target today, but in reality you can start a home based business selling rubber eyelashes and have the same benefits.

Jeff Bezos capped his salary at $82,000. Not because he's modest or because he wanted what's best for society and his company but because salaries are taxed. Instead, he borrows against his $230 BILLION stock to fund his lifestyle UNTAXED No paycheck = no income tax. The he jumps on TV and said he pays his fair share of taxes. They think we're stupid.

Billionaires do not run the businesses they own. Workers do. They hire workers to do the marketing, to do the sales, to do the shipping, to create the products, to pay the bills, to answer the phones. The working class generates the wealth the owning class accumulates.

@jeremyct Here's an idea, stop chasing a degree that won't get you hired and learn a trade. No college debt, trades are forever marketable and get paid to learn. Start at the bottom, get paid to learn the entire business as you get promoted and end up owning the business or start your own.
