IndyFP2 observations:
- interesting nugget that Helio as a one off with Honda has to limit his on track mileage to save his engine as he only has that one. MSR otherwise looks strong
- Penske as a team is running a smooth and progressing program. All three cars in the top 10 on the time charts.
- the cool temps are unlikely to last for qualifying or race day.
- Coyne continues to impress with RoGro 5th overall and turned 77 laps. Hauger has been consistent. Michael Cannon effect?
- Harvey has the pole winning engineer from Prema so gotta believe he comes with some setup sheets

@byajperez @FWRobbins45 Two weeks before the biggest race of the year? Are they going to buy out the football guy a week before the Super Bowl?
English

@FWRobbins45 @WingNwheel Killing its dedicated autos beat and choosing to take a buyout instead of moving to another beat isn't being "let go."

So, Jenna Fryer has announced that she will no longer be with the Associated Press. As you can probably imagine, her cohorts are acting as though this is a national tragedy. Now look, let's be real about this, she may have started out as a real journalist....but like everyone who works at the AP, she became nothing more than an activist who specialized in hit pieces. She single handily started the campaign to cancel Daniel Dye (whether you agree with what he did or not doesn't matter in this case) and have Darrell Waltrip fired from Fox, just to name a few examples. She reposts random nobodies on social media who disagree with her in an effort to have a pitchfork mob intimidate them into shutting up. Don't believe me? Go look at her X account prior to the Dye situation. The motorsports journalism industry has been suffering for years, as the entire media industry in general has. There are good journalists out there, but they are glossed over in favor of people like Jenna simply because of her tenure, and that's unfortunate.
And btw, after the Darrell Waltrip situation, she should have never been allowed back inside a garage area period.

@WingNwheel @FWRobbins45 And I showed you a video with a gesture. Just because she deleted it doesn't seem like the biggest of journalism scandals.
English

@byajperez @FWRobbins45 You asked for an example. I gave you one. Zero finger. Called out. Deleted like a coward. She won’t sleep with you.

@WingNwheel @gooberous_ @bobpockrass @IndyCarOnFOX I was talking about a long time ago when it was delayed for the whole country.
English

Indy 500 is a sellout. Only tickets available are hospitality and And the local blackout is lifted so those in the Indianapolis area can watch live on FOX. @IndyCarOnFOX
English

@byajperez @FWRobbins45 She deleted it because she’s a coward, but she claimed Rossi gave the bird to indycar officials. Of course being called out by the man himself immediately after.

English

@WingNwheel @FWRobbins45 And what did she make up three days ago, talking about examples..
English

@bobpockrass Only the third time shown live in Indy. First time was covid.
English

The Indy 500 typically has been blacked out in the Indy market and then aired at night.
gooberous@gooberous_
@bobpockrass @IndyCarOnFOX This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a motorsports tv blackout
English

@MichaelRMoats @gooberous_ @bobpockrass @IndyCarOnFOX It’s blacked out unless they sell out the grandstands. The only exceptions were Covid years.
English

@gooberous_ @bobpockrass @IndyCarOnFOX For years, Indy would never allow ABC to show the race live anywhere. Had to watch the replay at night. That ended some time in the late 80's, maybe early 90's.
English

@byajperez @FWRobbins45 She made shit up three days ago. How many examples do you need?
English

@FWRobbins45 She spent 30 years at AP where she wrote thousands of stories and you have two examples? 🤣🤣 Dye was like a couple months ago at that. You’re very much a historian, eh? And how long did Waltrip last after her 2019 report? Two months.
English

@driver84and26 @RREnthusast @TeamKFBfan8 Good at her job?! She made shit up constantly. Not coincidentally she got called out for it last weekend and now she’s jobless. Don’t make her the victim.
English

Honestly curious, Jeff, why was she “feared”?
Jeff Gluck@jeff_gluck
I’m well aware of how many readers feel about Jenna (so is she!), so you can save your replies disagreeing. My point is she’s been a force to be reckoned with for a solid two decades at the top, both feared and respected. Ask anyone in the industry.
English

Truly the end of an era in NASCAR journalism. There was no more powerful combo than @jennafryer and the AP for a LONG time, and she’s been the queen of the beat.
AP was a huge platform, but anyone who underestimates Jenna does so at great risk. This isn’t the end of her story.

@doctorindy500 Thank you for posting the articles. I tell people that story and can never find them.

The day before the 1998 #Indy500, Indianapolis area meteorologist and weather reporter Bill Meck (WTHR-13) said that there was a 'better chance of hitting the Powerball lottery than getting Sunday's race in without rain'.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot in 1998 were 1:80,089,127
It did rain overnight and into the early hours of race morning. The scoring pylon was even struck by lightning around midnight. However, the rain stopped Sunday morning around daybreak and the start of the race (scheduled for 11 a.m. EST) was delayed by only about 35 minutes. The race was run to completion without any interruptions.
Rival WRTV lampooned WTHR's perceived gaffe with a promo a couple days later boasting that they 'made the correct call' that the race would be run.
Six months later, Meck was gone from WTHR. He took the meteorologist position at WLEX in Lexington, Kentucky.

@bobpockrass How fucking bad are these drivers that they need 30 hours of practice?
English

@champwebdotnet Didn’t penske illegally alter their software to enable the p2p or ignore the lockout? To me that seems like a big difference you didn’t mention.
Pushing the button to see what happens vs scheming a way around the rules seem like two very different things.
