@riger1984 Gotta love all these opinions on prospects 99.9% of those commenting, hv never seen play Fact is, if this trade is made w the Cubs let’s say, and those same 3 prospects were in CHI’s system, fans would be celebrating Detroit landing 3 of CHI’s Top 5 prospects.

Wild that the Milwaukee Brewers, who have never won a World Series and have the BEST record in baseball couldn’t top the return the Tigers got for Tarik Skubal? Milwaukee fans gotta be furious. Tigers fans don’t seem that happy either.

@georgemalik Funny thing is, Colorado was in a very similar place to where Detroit is today, when the Duchene trade took place.

@georgemalik The closest recent example was Matt Duchene back in 2017 I think it was. Remember, he wanted to play “playoff hockey” as well. COL didn’t trade him until early November of the next season. Almost a year after he originally asked out. Girard and Byrum ended up 2 of the pieces.

@jamara23732 @RyanHanaWWP 100%. If these were the Phillies prospects let’s say, they’d all be in PHI’s Top 5, and everyone is celebrating the return. Same identical players Watch how “pleasantly” surprised fans reaction to the Mize return is. All cause they haven’t convinced themselves of anything yet.

Bro, the Tigers received arguably one of that organization’s best outfield prospects and two high-upside pitchers in return. You are not a scout, and several executives, analysts, and scouts believe the Tigers made a very good trade. Expecting Detroit to receive a team’s top two or three prospects for a two-month rental is completely unrealistic. Can we stop with all the damn negativity toward players most of us have never watched, evaluated, or scouted? At least give these prospects an opportunity to prove themselves before declaring the trade a failure.

@RyanHanaWWP @WingedWheelPod You can but nobody would actually understand, as it’s all about random ratings for fans. LA’s 5, 7, 17th prospects would likely all be Top 5 for 25 team’s. No diff than comparing SJs Top 10 to LA’s in NHL We haven’t seen a RENTAL return like this for a long time in either sport

@JeffPassan Funny part is, we’re going to see everyone complain about this return because they’d convinced themselves DET would get 3 of LA’s top 5, but will overly praise the Mize return because they hadn’t convinced themselves of anything yet. All while never seeing 1 of the prospects play

The Los Angeles Dodgers are acquiring Tarik Skubal for outfielder Zyhir Hope, right-hander River Ryan and right-hander Brady Smith, sources tell ESPN.

@kiddwikked @JeffPassan This was likely the pkg Harris chose. He was likely given 3-4 different pkgs and chose this one. Smith is one of the rawest prospects for a pitcher, and the other two are in Detroit very soon. He very likely chose Smith over a Ferris type, and chose 2 Ps over position players

@JeffPassan hmm, I mean, that seems a little lackluster.. they are great prospects for sure and Skubal is a rental, I get it.. just seems like someone could have beat that

@the_det_times Bring it up in 2-3 years and we’ll know. What it mean is, Scott Harris was likely given a choice of certain packages. This is the package he chose.

@Nntarno555 @NHLRumourReport You sure are committed to that video game of yours. 😂 You havent a clue how any of the men I mentioned use analytics. You’re just talking out of your backside. Bergen/Lapointe hv nothing to do w Holland/SY either. Lapointe is literally in charge of pro/amateur personnel in MTL.

@WingRaider @NHLRumourReport The last thing the Wings need is former wings players. They need a data centric, non hockey guy. The game is evolving rapidly, and we don't need more dinosaurs in charge

Elliotte Friedman: Re Red Wings management search: Do they do a one person structure like Yzerman was...or do they go to a two person structure where there's a President and...a general manager; I've heard the Red Wings are open to all sorts of ideas - NHL Tonight (7/15)

@Nntarno555 @NHLRumourReport It’s time to burn the video game. Marty Lapointe is a major player building MTL’s current roster, AND developing their younger players AND the Armstrong’s are as respected as they come in all phases of running/building a franchise.

Chris Illitch is starting to feel a lot like William Clay Ford these days. For the younger crowd, that’s not a compliment. #LGRW

@tmatthewshockey Think fans are well within their right to question what is going on? The GM stepped down and all we’ve seen from C Illitch is a press release? His dad would’ve been facing media/cameras, explaining their vision, etc. Especially w all the current ? marks. Camp is only wks away.

Red Wings fans want a name, a leak, a list, and a frontrunner. Curiosity makes sense, but demanding hourly breadcrumbs don’t. Detroit’s next hockey ops boss inherits Larkin’s mess, Yzerman’s shadow, bad contracts, and blocked prospect lanes. Stay patient and hold your horses, dammit. #LGRW #RedWings

@tmatthewshockey What if it’s been Horcoff all along, and all they’ve been doing is re-arranging their front office the last 2wks? We know they haven’t been talking to NHL AGMs, as permissions leak. So Horcoff is the likely leader, unless it’s someone like Rutherford/Shanahan/Treliving/Gold

The Red Wings staying quiet on the GM search is the correct move. This hire is bigger than a nameplate. Ilitch has to decide structure, authority, Yzerman’s influence, Larkin’s future, and if the next boss gets real power. That shouldn’t play out as a rumor carnival, so quit feeling entitled to rumors and transparency. #LGRW #RedWings

@GrindLinePod @HockeytownRD BTW, teams who usually chase the current trend (or craze) in regards to changing their team’s approach to running the franchise. almost always fail miserably.

@GrindLinePod @HockeytownRD Unfortunately an angle the podcast guys and media haven’t spent enough time on, is Chris Illitch’s very definite commitment to the analytical craze. Do not underestimate the new GM being someone 99% of fans hv never heard of, and they might hv no NHL management experience at all.

It’s now Chris Illitch’s show. ALL accountability moves to his shoulders w the next hire(s) to run the DRW Unfortunately because he relies on CROSS ORG MGMT, guys like Andrew Thomas, who’ll be involved in the decision, has been busy w the MLB trade deadline these last 2wks #LGRW

@HockRod @nhltraderumours Adding significantly “up the middle”, to compete with the VGK, EDM, COL, DAL, and now ANA and SJ’s of the world. MIN might get through 1 of them (w bounces going their way) come POs, but they just can’t matchup to compete against their C play, to go on any sort of real PO run.

The Wild want Quinn Hughes for 5–8 years. Hughes may prefer 3 years, with projections reaching $18M AAV. At that price, Hughes and Kaprizov would consume about 30.8% of Minnesota’s projected 2027–28 cap. Should the Wild accept the shorter deal? nhltraderumor.com/minnesota-wild…
