@HockeySnobElite @NHLRumourReport It’s hilarious because the assumption that this team has no choice or SY will lose his job, so they have to win now crap, has been proven wrong over and over again. Pretty sure DET’s always known they wanted young players or futures OR a deal would be done w Minnesota already.

@NHLRumourReport Rebuild what? Are you suggesting that we sell off all the 21 and under prospects we have coming? Thats what we already rebuilt for. Out with the old. In with the new. If that's a rebuild to you, then sure. Continuation of the process for me. Vets out. Youth in.

@tmatthewshockey That’s not really how it works when it’s a trade request. You take the best offer on the table. You are no longer the negotiator. If it’s 5 maybes that’s what it is. You don’t get to choose the pieces

If the Red Wings trade Larkin, the return can’t be five maybes and a prayer. It needs to change the mood immediately. There's one package, far-fetched as it seems, that would skyrocket optimism. #LGRW #RedWings

@magicrat_larry @GrindLinePod @JCSportsDetroit Lots is going to come out after Larkin is gone. Mostly about how his teammates, especially young players, walked on eggshells around him. As his mood went, the locker room went. If he was slumping, the team slumped There’s a reason Yzerman also took so long to name him Captain.

@GrindLinePod @JCSportsDetroit It is strange that people think that the rest of the players respected Larkin. If there was a true bond Larkin would be staying because it would be like leaving a family. Larkin was a problem we are just starting to see how big.

Delusional. No matter what they’re rebuilding next two years. The roster already was poor, with Larkin leaving, expect Kane to leave that’s nearly 100 points walking out the door.
The Grind Line Podcast™@GrindLinePod

I'll take several futures if they are top prospects close to playing. But I don't think it throws them back into a full rebuild considering the pool they have. I think it's imperative to get a good roster player back though. #LGRW #RedWings

@JCSportsDetroit They have two young monsters on the blueline, that make things much, much easier, and a boatload of prospects and young players still developing. Add a few more young players trading Larkin, Debrincat, Faulk, and a likely Top 5 pick in 27’, they can absolutely be an ANA in 18mths

@Spenmorax Yep. They needed to take a step backwards this summer prior to the Larkin trade request. In fact, I’d wager Larkin was told that was their plan, and he acted exactly how Yzerman hoped he would, allowing DET to trade him as well, in that step backwards.

Exactly what they need to do. Can’t go after a “win now” guy and continue to sit around in mediocrity in the East. The Detroit Red Wings need to target a prospect/young player they think can be a top line center or ELITE scoring wing in a few years. TIJ IGINLA

@Spider_Gorilla @J_Swish24 Regardless of moron podcasters, If you truly don’t know the diff between Larkin pretending he had Panarin leverage and the reality that TERM is what creates that type of leverage, not sure what to tell you. Detroit will get a very solid return. That list means little.

@J_Swish24 This guy doesn't look like he has ever played a sport, or stepped in a gym for that matter. Why would anyone listen to him? NEWS for DET fans, with only a 3 team list, you aren't getting a solid return, and certainly not a young already talented producer in return, from anyone.

@TaggReturns @J_Swish24 At best they likely end up w Desnoyers, Beaudoin, Crouse and a pick. If BOS, MTL and ANA are in this, maybe they can get Iginla or Simashev instead of Beaudoin in there. If I’m SY I’m pushing for Desnoyers & Iginla, even if I add a piece. Bottom line, there’s a deal to be made

@J_Swish24 Unfortunately, most in DET media/podcaster types, are football/baseball guys, who’ve learned most of their hockey tailgating w Darren McCarty. 2 weeks ago they still thought Larkin was on par w Yzerman and Fedorov. They’re not getting Cooley, but they would get a nice pkg fr Utah

@NHLRumourReport DET has a bunch of kids who are ready, or close. The best fit is to add under 24 players in return for Larkin, Debrincat, Copp, Faulk, Gibson, and let all those kids play next season. That’ll add a Top 5 pick in all likelihood too. W all that, DET could be another ANA in 18mths

@originaltaz99 @stay0ffmylawn @tmatthewshockey Yet he didn’t lose his job like you’re thinking. He was battling injury, and by the time he was ready to go 100%, Postava was on that crazy great roll, as the POs started. They were already sharing the net most of the year. You don’t go from great prospect to bum in 2 weeks 😂

@stay0ffmylawn @WingRaider @tmatthewshockey He has little value in a trade. He lost his job in minor leagues. He might become an excellent goalie. And he might fail miserably. Little value in trade

No centerpiece. No conversation. That's what Steve Yzerman needs to tell anyone who calls. It doesn't need to be an established centerpiece. But one with high upside and is also on the right trajectory. #LGRW #RedWings

@JasonGregor Hearing the Sharks have been calling Detroit, trying to get Simon Edvinsson. It’ll be crazy expensive but would help allow SJ to start competing for real a lot sooner than drafting and waiting for other dmen to develop.

"I believe Ferraro will walk, while I think Desharnais will re-sign. The Sharks desperately need to improve their defense. And they will look to do it in free agency and via trade. If the Sharks draft Stenberg, then they could move a young forward like Eklund to acquire a proven D-man," Peng on Sharks @Sports1440

@georgemalik To be fair, Brisson wasn’t Fedorov’s agent who started the entire rift between Feds and the Illitch family, by securing that crazy offer sheet from Karmanos. Mike Barnett once told me, after he got that deal for Feds, he was never treated the same again by the Illitch’s.

Just an FYI (and I will write about this soon): There is another parallel between Sergei Fedorov's divorce from the Wings in 2003 and Dylan Larkin's impending exit from Detroit in 2026: Pat Brisson. He was Fedorov's agent. He is Larkin's agent. Take that for what you will.

Oilers need to make smart decision when trading Nurse. Always available. Has only missed 18 games the past 9 seasons. Can log big minutes. Skates well. Is physical. Can chip in offensively at 5x5. He is 40th in EV goals and points among Dmen the past three seasons. He's not a #1 Dman, but he has value. Oilers can't afford another trade similar to Stuart Skinner.

@KevinWeekes @NJDevils Even more of a reason for the Hughes to get on the phone and sell Brisson on convincing Larkin that MTL is his best fit. Larkin is the perfect compliment to Suzuki and their window is about the same.

@SBrooks_77 I wouldn’t even give up Zharovsky for him straight up. The last thing MTL needs is someone who skates like MacTavish at 2C. Maybe 3C? At best give up Beck, a 1st and a 3rd or something like Kapanen and Struble

The asking price better be similar to that of zegras. More track record but zegras wasnt scratched often and this is 7 mill long term. If he doesnt work out that 7 mill could be what stops us from winning a cup. So a late first and a b prospect. Thats it from me.

@thesheethockey @TheFourthPeriod @JeffMarek @wyshynski Buffalo went 25 yrs of rebuild after rebuild. So has OTT and MtL every 6-7yrs. They all had several pieces b4 this current rebuild. Detroit was bone dry of talent and tradable assets. Basically started from scratch. It was always gonna take 8-10yrs JUST LIKE COLORADO did.
