@chrisloblaw @mattgurney They're being asked to risk the lives of their sailors.
English

@mattgurney They are not being asked to drop bombs on Tehran. They are being asked to protect an international shipping lane, which they now admit is in their best interest.
English

It’s fine. There is clearly a plan in place for this. Relax.
WarMonitor@TheWarMonitor
The blockade of fertilizer shipments through the Strait of Hormuz could disrupt global food supplies. (FT)
English

@gethuset @SocDoneLeft Ok what if it's for food, shelter, clothing and tools?
What if its a vital aspect of culture? The idea of killing for pleasure is a western concept
English

@WiredPyromaniac @SocDoneLeft I think it’s immoral to kill or harm animals for pleasure, yes. It doesn’t matter if the person doing it is classified as ”indigenous” or not.
English

"Indigenous communities eat meat in a non wasteful way"
You are an American, median income $50k. You have a grocery store. You buy meat. You could buy lentils, beans, tofu.
Stop using ultrapoor hunters to defend your tasty treats built on industrial torture of animals.

🔪🩸 Saturn the Vampire Slayer🩸🔪@satrns_nebula
Ppl have been eating meat since the dawn of time. Indigenous communities eat meat in a non wasteful way. Industry is the problem not the consumption itself this is a dumb take.
English

@motivatedjoy2 @AngryBeaver18 @JesseBrown They're called projections, I dont know why you care about the number, it wouldn't change your opinion.
If Israel deported every single palestinian you would be fine with it
English

@TiltedTapes @rafal_blaszak @BarbedBeggar No dummy, the things you're comparing it to. I don't eat beef so you can fuck off with that
English

@WiredPyromaniac @rafal_blaszak @BarbedBeggar too easy to point out how ridiculously inefficient and unnecessary farming animals is? No shit. Go vegan
English

@motivatedjoy2 @AngryBeaver18 @JesseBrown Clearly you don't know that those numbers dont include people lost in the rubble, the idf doesnt even dispute that
English

@WiredPyromaniac @AngryBeaver18 @JesseBrown Now you’re just lying 😭 not even the Gaza MoH official toll is 100 thousand.
You are all such deeply unserious people..
Israel wants to finally take out Hezbollah who’ve been shooting rockets into Israel, that’s why they’re in Lebanon. Not that you care about reality lol
English

@motivatedjoy2 @AngryBeaver18 @JesseBrown Buddy, I'm pointing out that calling it Libel is fucking bullshit.
The IDF killed over a 100 thousand, 370 have been killed since the ceasefire and now there pogroms in the west bank, and Israel wants to seize land from Lebanon now.
Maybe you just can't do basic math
English

@WiredPyromaniac @AngryBeaver18 @JesseBrown Buddy.. you’re citing this activist group like it’s a court ruling or some kind of official body—it’s not. It’s an academic activist org that publishes statements and letters.
Nice try though
English

@parodycab @jengerson lmao we were smoking it anyway made no fucking sense to criminalize it
English

@jengerson Hence Trudeau legalizing pot. Everyone space out on the couch and things will be fine.
English

I've been told that it's a fairly ordinary process of middle age to realize that the world simply isn't what it should be and probably isn't going to get better; to despair, resign oneself to this truth, and to come away from this collapse by reevaluating your priorities, shifting strategies, and then re-engaging with the world as it is rather than as it ought to be.
Anyway, watching my daughter play with kinetic sand at Calgary City Hall in a toy room made for adults made me realize I'm still in the "despair" phase of the dip.
English

@Mitchel89761157 @ContraPoints And we have a real bad El nino coming
English

@WiredPyromaniac @AngryBeaver18 @JesseBrown lol, there is no official ‘genocide scholars council’ ruling 🥲
A few activist academics signing letters is in no way legal determination.
Even the ICJ hasn’t ruled genocide, all it’s done is say the claims are arguable.
English

@motivatedjoy2 @AngryBeaver18 @JesseBrown "The hateful UN" good lord
The International council of genocide scholars called it a Genocide. The evidence is there, you just dont want to look
English

@AngryBeaver18 @JesseBrown And you are subhuman because you’re on the left side of the bellcurve and believe in libellous “genocide” claims put out by Qatari funded NGOs and the hateful UN, even though the evidence just isn’t there.
English

@cafeviolenza @VanWatervliet @_Juicebanner The main threat at the time was the british fucking empire. "Gosh I wonder where the idea of having a Navy came from"
English

@VanWatervliet @_Juicebanner so we suddenly had this bizarre abstract need to materialize a Navy for no particular reason at all, huh. No relation to the pirates which we almost immediately went to war with, who had been taking slaves and hostages for a decade+ prior, using this suddenly materialized Navy
English

We literally created the Navy because Muslim pirates wouldn’t stop attacking trade ships and enslaving people
Maia@maiamindel
the founding fathers saw islam as a really cool foreign religion and catholicism as basically a mental parasite commanding a legion of violent fanatics
English

@TiltedTapes @rafal_blaszak @BarbedBeggar Because it's too easy to point out how ridiculous the scales are
English

@WiredPyromaniac @rafal_blaszak @BarbedBeggar It's pretty useful to give people a sense of the immense harm animal agriculture does to the planet and animals.
Why do you think its too biased to be useful?
English

@KASHA292858392 @SocDoneLeft I never claimed I was vegan, when you start advocating for ethical management for ecological recovery, I'll stop eating chicken :)
English

@WiredPyromaniac @SocDoneLeft Glad we agree on that. And thank you for being an ecological hero protecting our ecosystems through culling chicken that is organic most of the time you buy it from a store or eat it at a restaurant.

English

@KASHA292858392 @SocDoneLeft "things running their course" doesnt help ecosystems. We have to actively fix the issues. Reintroducing wolves is a greta idea, but then we still have to kill things like invasive species.
Again you can hunt and value animals lives
English

@WiredPyromaniac @SocDoneLeft It's a moral failing because we don't have a need to kill deer. If ecosystem health is the goal then I'd prefer reintroducing predators like wolves. I would prefer letting things run their course as is over human hunting, because we need a culture of valuing animal lives.
English

@TheChaosWeeber This is a pretty obvious attribution fallacy. We don't know if that's true, there's lots of theories, drunk monkey is a fun one. Other Apes are really smart, they're mostly vegetarian
English

@KASHA292858392 @SocDoneLeft If humans kill and consume deer in a way that empowers ecological recovery, is that a moral failing?
I'm with you on mechanized, industrial meat farming, but I dont accept that there isnt a place for humans in ecosystems.
English

@KASHA292858392 @SocDoneLeft Are we separate from nature or are we part of nature?
If I'm going to see all animals as sentient beings why is their behavior in an ecosystem not see as a moral failing?
Take deer for example, culling deer populations in North America, helps preserve ecosystem health
English

@platypusWarby Seems like I clocked your correctly. You have same view of nature that capitalists do.
English

@WiredPyromaniac Sounds like you’re too piss weak to live a life without harming animals. Just another one of the flock that has put the planet in its current predicament.
English

@platypusWarby Horticulture has introduced so many fucking invasive species.
My worldview prioritizes effective restoration of ecosystems, yours prioritizes your own feelings
English

@WiredPyromaniac I like how you just pick out the bits that suit your narrative. Horticulture and land management are intertwined. You’re going to keep abusing weaker defenceless animals because that’s what weak people do. They prey on the weak and vulnerable. This conversation is over
English
