Radio Europe, Netherlands 🇳🇱 testing on 5940 kHz (according to sources).
Strong signal, no ID heard, mixed playlist, occasional empty carrier.
RX: 18:00 UTC England
20m End Fed Wire

@Baznoir It has Baz, not great for SWL but I’ve done okay on HF ham bands, 20m upwards. Loads of noise on 40m and below. I’m tempted with Newark, a bit skint but might go to socialise 👍🏼
@Wishbone648 Hope it's a sign of things to come HF has been a rough listen for me this year.
Hamfest a week tomorrow at Newark, might be antenna ideas there for me 👍
@Baznoir That’s great, might be the slight change in conditions. I get them on groundwave prop as Nottingham isn’t far. If you text them an RX report they usually reply.
Autumn is on its way mate, Blackbeard and others should be more clear then 🙂📻
@Wishbone648 Evening mate, that's the internal ferrite, my MW rx is usually rubbish 😒 the AN200, or the longwire don't seem to help either 🤷♂️ just luck i suppose hah
@riprap1 It‘s not bad mate but it suffers with bleed over from other stations if they are 10 kHz either side, especially the strong broadcasters. Next to useless on SSB 😂
Im pleased with it though, a good sounding radio for broadcast listening.
I’ve been having a play with the JS8 Call mode for the first time this afternoon. Activity is a bit sparse but it’s fairly effective with lots of potential.
Conditions on 20 not great; 25w with a 20m End Fed Antenna…
@F4JSU Have you got an allocation for 4m 70mhz in France? That band is a challenge in itself. I’ve been out on hilltops, sometimes you get a few contacts, other times nothing.
I'm thinking of a 30 days hamradio challenge.
I already made this kind of challenge in sport, even at a 80% success you gain something.
Ideas:
- 1 POTA/day
- 1 QSO/day as portable or mobile
Bonus:
- at least 2 modes
- no spotting
- 1 different mode/week
Any through?
@RA4SD Hi Alexey, this is the RX I get from Caroline in the midlands. Better on a loop antenna. I can copy around 25 U.K. stations on MW some days, there used to be way more in the past 👍🏼
Fantastic Web SDR located in the Fens of Eastern England! 648kHz Radio Caroline now my favourite radio) Impressed how many stations copied in UK in daytime (with good antenna).
@riprap1 Not listened to that, I don’t mind Absolute and Gold on DAB. Pirates are the best, random playlists, no adverts, no waffling dj, no doom and gloom ☠️👊🏻
@Wishbone648 For the bathroom I have Tick Tock radio where you can pick the year you want to listen to. No ads either, just a station name check between songs. Greatest hits is bearable and ok
