A startup has raised nearly $1B to bring supersonic travel back.✈️ In this episode of Original & Unconventional @oaupod, I sat down with @bscholl, founder & CEO of @boomsupersonic. They’re building Overture, a commercial supersonic airliner designed to make faster-than-sound travel possible again.⚡️ Boom’s investors include Altimeter Capital, @ARKInvest, @BessemerVP , Darsana Capital Partners, @ycombinator, along with @sama and @paulg . But that’s not all. Boom is also building Superpower — natural gas turbines designed to power AI data centers. @CrusoeAI, has already ordered 29 turbines. In this conversation we talk about: • building a company around an “impossible” mission • rejection, insecurity & resilience • how founders build world-class teams • the mindset required to attempt something this ambitious This episode isn’t just about planes. It’s about the mindset required to build companies that change industries. Full episode ↓ ✈️🚀 youtu.be/nmpyMhXjZGg?si… #boomsupersonic #Entrepreneur #mindset #founder #startup #aviation #Fundraising

you were promised flying cars. instead you got $200 oil and climate lockdowns here's what nobody is connecting for normieland the strait of hormuz has been closed for three weeks. 21 merchant ships attacked. tanker traffic down 97%. this is the most significant chokepoint disruption in 80 years but oil is just the headline. oil is a derivative of everything you touch. every product in your house. every pill in your cabinet. every piece of food on your plate let's start with what's going to hit first fertilizer. 46% of the world's urea supply comes from the gulf. a million metric tons are physically stranded right now. prices up 40% in three weeks. there is no pipeline bypass for fertilizer. no workaround. the stuff is just stuck this is happening during the spring planting window. right now. mid-february through may. midwest farmers are staring at fields they may not be able to afford to plant. the american farm bureau is begging the administration to act if farmers skip fertilizer or switch crops, yields drop. food gets scarce. prices spike. not in six months. this fall and it's not just us. brazil imports half its fertilizer through hormuz. india depends on it for monsoon planting. in 2022 sri lanka banned synthetic fertilizer. their agriculture collapsed. then their government collapsed. the president fled the country now your medicine cabinet. 47% of US generic prescriptions come from india. india gets 40% of its crude through hormuz. that crude feeds the petrochemical inputs to make your diabetes meds, blood pressure pills, and antibiotics. experts say pharmacy shortages start in 4-6 weeks if this doesn't resolve plastics. 85% of middle east polyethylene exports go through hormuz. asian petrochemical plants get 70-80% of their naphtha from the gulf. producers in singapore, indonesia, and south korea have declared force majeure. they can't make the stuff. that's your packaging, your car parts, your medical devices qatar suspended LNG production. helium supply is choking off. that's your MRI machines and semiconductor fabs the IEA released 400 million barrels from emergency reserves. that's a bandaid on a bullet wound the entire global economy was built on the assumption that a 21-mile wide strait between iran and oman would always be open. that your fertilizer would always flow. that the chemicals for your medicine would always arrive. that the feedstock for your food supply would never stop that all just went out the window the people who feel this worst won't be arguing about it on twitter. they'll be in sub-saharan africa, south asia, and the developing world where food inflation doesn't mean paying $8 for eggs it means not eating this chart isn't about oil prices. it's about how fragile everything is when civilization depends on a handful of chokepoints to function and we're three weeks in

@SahilBloom Same here… I don’t really buy that much clothes anymore unless I really need to. I mostly spend on wellness products and activities: massages, gym membership, and dance classes.

I wasted so much money on clothes in my 20s that I should have just invested in my own health. Getting fit is worth more than any style makeover. A fit person looks better in jeans and a white tee than an unfit person in a $2000 designer outfit.

@marcrandolph Yeah voice memo annoys me. It’s not effective communication unless you’re someone whose voice I actually want to hear and it’s a soothing message…

What if God actually vibe-coded us? In the Bible it says: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. “All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made.” What if the “Word”… was the original prompt? I’ve always felt like words carry power… like they’re spells. Not in a mystical way, but in a real, cause-and-effect way. And now, in the age of AI, it’s hard to ignore: the quality of the output depends on the quality of the prompt. So what does that say about us? The words we speak. The thoughts we repeat. The narratives we reinforce. What if we’ve been prompting our reality this whole time? Not perfectly. Not instantly. But consistently. And what if reality looks the way it does today because of what we collectively believe? Because what we consume shapes what we think… and what we think shapes the words we tell ourselves… and the words we repeat become the lens through which we see the world. Maybe that’s why mass media and now social media are so powerful. They don’t just inform us. They influence the prompts. They shape the beliefs we adopt, the stories we internalize, and ultimately… the reality we participate in creating. Maybe creation didn’t just happen once. Maybe it’s happening through us, every day, in the language we choose.

💯 No amount of skincare products would help with your acne if your gut is not doing well and if you’re not eating nutritious food that are good for your gut and skin… I myself struggled with acne for 3 months until I started eating properly again and took some IV drip with glutathione, zinc, biotin, vitamin C and B-complex.

Your skincare routine should start with 2 bowel movements a day and smooth digestion. Not Sephora. Poor gut motility = bacterial overgrowth = endotoxins leaking into your bloodstream = your liver overwhelmed = inflammation showing up on your face. And then they’ll tell you you have “acne prone skin” and sell you accutane 🤡 Fix the gut first. Always.

Political junkies in Canada are talking about @PierrePoilievre being on the @joerogan podcast. Looking forward to having a Canadian 🇨🇦 politician on my podcast, Original and Unconventional @oaupod in the month of April! 😉 So far, I’ve had a naturopath, business owners, Bitcoiners and a tech founder/CEO as guests… I really want to interview interesting people from different walks of life and backgrounds with unconventional views and unconventional way of doing things in life. If anyone here would like to be a guest on my podcast, send me a DM. :) Happy to connect and see if there’s a fit and how I can help. :)

Exactly! One thing I learned in the past few months is to not be afraid to do the things that you think you should do or feel like doing: starting a project/business, doing something you’ve always wanted to do, trying something you’ve always wanted to try, say how you really feel or what you think, ask someone you like out even if you risk getting rejected… We are all souls experiencing how it’s like to be human and the pressure we sometimes have or put on ourselves are not necessarily something we have to live with. A lot of the times, we are our own worst critics and sometimes, we are actually the only ones limiting ourselves, not others. We can decide how to live this life and there’s nothing wrong with doing things the way you want to them as long as you’re not harming yourself or anyone in the process. Do what you want to do even if it makes you feel inadequate or even if you think you’re not good enough or qualified to do it. It’s better to get rejected or to have failed but tried, than to later think to yourself, “I could have, I should have, but I didn’t.”

Take the risk, say the things you want to say, try to build the life you really want to have. Life comes & goes very quickly. In a blink of an eye, it's gone... You might as well go for what you want.
