@MarcAPerna @971theticketxyt Where is the lack of knowledge? What is he missing? I wouldn’t say soft, a lot of guys who you’d have to lock in a closet to keep out have trouble understanding. And he knows a little about putting his body on the line.

Hmm okay but now let’s put you in the situation where you have a team knowing they have one last season with you (and pays your checks) pressuring you not to do it, your agent set to make a massive payday off you pressuring you not to do it, and two kids under 3 at home that you’ll be set to pass on generational wealth to if you stay healthy. And you agreed to still play in one game despite all these people telling you that you shouldn’t because you wanted to represent USA that badly that you were at least willing to play one game rather than not play at all. USA fans have been ungrateful and whiney this whole WBC and that’s why I’m rooting for Venezuela tonight

The WBC is a high emotion event. The risk of pushing oneself beyond what their body is ready for is higher than it would be in a much more controlled Spring Training environment.

I’m sorry but the whole “he might get injured before his $400M payday” argument just isn’t moving me. Why are we acting like pitching 4–5 innings in the WBC instead of Spring Training is suddenly going to break him before a 200-inning season? I just don’t buy it.

@deeptocenter First you have insurance against injury. Secondly HE is taking that risk going to free agency when he could have 85% of that money signing an extension here. Three, again if you are so fragile that 4 innings would wreak you, then buyer beware and the Tigers better know now.

@confusion_reign @deeptocenter I just think it’s the typical wrap me in bubble wrap kind of thing we’ve seen in the last 10-15 years and getting worse. Just not I am built so I have trouble with it. I would want to compete and know way he shouldn’t be able to hold up 60 pitches. He already did.

@deeptocenter For me I would just want to be out there to play with USA across the chest. There is risk in every outing, but they’ve ramped up enough for 4 innings or 60 pitches. It’s about competitive spirit and pride. I don’t think that is “dumb” or irrational.

@CFBChuckk Perfect takes for where we’re at. Link is far better on right side and is a G. C, RG, RT locked in. I completely agree that Frazier could easily win the LT battle without being the best 5. He wasn’t supposed to play last year so I think he’ll have more physically.

Random 40-man player note #25: Kerry Carpenter Tigers are in a bit of a bind at DH. A lot has been made of Greene's defensive decline in LF, but Carpenter is also trending down. All of his advanced defensive stats dropped from neutral to below average last year and his max sprint speed has declined as well. DH is probably his best fit, but that may also be true for Greene, as well as Jung, Valencia, and Briceno in the coming years. His hamstring is to blame for a lot of this, but health is also a skill. Someone is going to end up odd man out - given how left-handed the Tigers look to be in the future, it might be Carpenter.
