@mikhail_b_ To be clear, we do not block features if a license is expired. We do however require users to enter their key before using the plugin. It's such an easy step to take against abuse.🙂

@mikhail_b_ True! Users have to enter their license key before they can use the plugin. We're indeed somewhat "unique" in doing it that way and it stopped 100% of "download abuse" where they download the plugin and install it on other domains than the one it is activated on.

What is your view on blocking certain plugin features without license activation? Have you implemented this, or do you plan to? I am seriously considering rethinking how licensing works in my WordPress plugins. At the moment, a license key is required only to enable plugin updates. This is how most paid WordPress plugins operate today. I am thinking about changing this approach and blocking some Pro features until the license is activated. The main reason is to prevent license switching between domains just to download the latest plugin version - something a small group of users actively does. Before making this decision, I looked into how popular WordPress plugin companies handle licensing. Surprisingly, not many of them restrict functionality. Companies like @quadlayers, bitapps pro, @Barn2Plugins do block certain Pro features. From everything I checked, only @studio_wombat fully blocks paid plugins before license activation - respect for that approach 😎. Of course, I could not review every plugin on the market, but the overall trend is clear - most paid plugins work fully without an active license and require it only for updates.

@rmelogli @MarcoAlmeidaPT I (sadly) don’t think they’re moving away from jQuery. It’s too big a project. I think they’re just aligning more with core functions.

@MarcoAlmeidaPT Not 100% sure, because in the deprecation announcement post they tell you to register your script via wp_register_script/wp_enqueue_script/wp_add_inline_script instead

Well wc_enqueue_js(), a WooCommerce core PHP function to inject inline JS within a jQuery wrapper, is being deprecated. I loved it 😭
