As we mark the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we will today launch our groundbreaking report on Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (#TFGBV), which sheds light on the alarming prevalence of TF-GBV targeting women in public roles in Kenya. The report reveals that platforms are hotspots for such violence and highlights the urgent need for action to create safer online spaces for women, especially those in politics and public life. Stay tuned for more updates. #16DaysOfActivism

Violence against women and girls is a huge threat to progress on gender equality. As technology becomes more widely available, more awareness is needed for women and girls to repress the prevalence of online harassment. As part of the regional advocacy work at the @WomenAtWebEA, @AMWIK and @MediaConvergency collaborated to produce a comic strip about Online Violence Against Women in the East Africa region. Through the fictional story of Samira, an actress who experiences online violence, the comic strip breaks down #onlineviolence against women, its characteristics, its impact on the victim, and the importance of having a support system that can help you seek psychological help as well as justice. You can access the comic strip here: amwik.org/comic-strip/ @dw_akademie

The testimony behind this month's campaign #theviolenceinyourapp has been provided by a victim of mobile money lending apps. Her life became a living nightmare after she stopped paying the lenders back in time, as she used to. youtube.com/watch?v=hr4Bzl…
