It’s time for another “Doesn’t look right in that uniform” thread. I’ll start with this one that I’m frankly still processing …

@smirchfa @LoewyLawFirm If AISD is so rich it's expected to fund other districts - to an obscene degree compared to literally every other big district in the state as you point out - how is it that AISD is the one running a deficit? This is insanity and yes, it feels criminal.

@LoewyLawFirm Could it be… the absolutely insane amounts of recapture? I do love my property taxes going up continually and watching schools close while rural schools use the money to build bigger football stadiums. Some amount of help is fine and good! But to this extent feels criminal.

Recall we did an election recently to get them more money. Where did that go ?

@LoewyLawFirm Aren't like half (or more?) of the school taxes AISD collects going to other districts because of Robin Hood? How is it AISD is the one with the deficit? This is indefensible and unconscionable.

@PolitiBunny Jungle primary means only top 2 vote-getters move on to the general election. There are 2 Republican candidates who might shut out the D's if D votes are sufficiently diluted.

I’m not defending Swalwell, but I can’t help but wonder why now? Again, I’m glad it’s all coming out as the guy is a total skeeze and shouldn’t be in office in any capacity. But if this has gone on for years, why didn’t they stop him years ago? Why allow him to continue at all?

Did anyone detect that Justice Kagan might be open to restricting birthright tourism (but not children of illegal but “permanent” residents)? Would be an interesting and unexpected splitting of the baby.

@TB1Kinobe I give. I don't remember ever seeing this. I want to say "overdrive" but that's not an "E" and I don't remember manual transmissions having overdrive. At least none that I ever drove. Plus that doesn't really make sense, why not just say it's 5th gear...

Who's old enough to remember what the E stands for?

@IzaBooboo What are you on about? “Treason, Bribery or other High Crimes…” Of course there is a legal foundation to impeach and remove any Supreme Court Justice – now sitting, or in the future. It can be done, and can ONLY be done, by Congress. And, it can’t be undone.

1. Congress does not have constitutional authority to oversee the ethics rules for the Supreme Court, which is a separate branch under Article III. 2. There is no rule or law-based foundation to impeach any Justice currently sitting. 3. If this person is proposing that we make up ex post facto rules in order to impeach Justices who currently have violated no law or rule (and he is), he's living up to his well-deserved commie nazi reputation.

@IzaBooboo @CaseyMattox_ Rule or foundation has nothing to do with it. They serve on condition of "good behavior" which Congress can define however it wants for purposes of impeachment.

@lordbuckly Well, that would be one way - probably the ONLY way since Congress is incompetent - to get California to get rid of this idiotic jungle primary system.

There are eight Democrats running for governor, which is a problem for their party. Under California’s “jungle” primary system, where the top two finishers go on to the November election, regardless of party, those eight have badly split the Democrat vote. That has opened the door for the two Republicans running. Many polls have shown them to be first and second in the race, polling in the high teens. It would be quite a coup if it stayed that way. It also is unlikely. There is also a possibility that, absent Trump’s endorsement, two Democrats would finish first and second, freezing Republicans out of the general election entirely. That, in turn, would destroy Republican turnout in a crucial midterm election year with many other key races and ballot initiatives at stake, including voter ID.

GP Nearly always when I think Trump has said or done something stupid and I'm poised to be mad at him, the political left's reaction to the aforementioned crap makes me even angrier with them instead. In case anyone wondered why people on the fence about Trump keep supporting him.

@tlangford @KUTnathan Honestly, I so rarely go west on 71 from there I'm not sure I'd know how to do it. Just last week I saw a car ram itself across 4 lanes in that little section to get from the far left lane to the right exit.

@tlangford @KUTnathan And if you're going to the airport you come over a little hill before you see that the lane splits and you have to make a quick decision which fork to take. I'm used to it now but it took me a while to internalize that one.

What is the worst intersection in Austin?

@KUTnathan Every one where they make you cross over oncoming lanes and then wait at another light before you can take your left. Like Parmer & Whitestone and the one up by IKEA over I35.

@LoewyLawFirm I’ve found the entire intersection at South Lamar just north of 71 to be the weirdest.

@_tramirez @KUTnathan Yeah, this one is real bad. Not really a design issue but people who take the Braker exit off 183 and try to get to Costco's parking lot should be arrested. Just loop around.
