What’s the difference between the death he died for the elect, and that for all, that explains these different results?

Christ died for all so that, upon the condition of faith, they may be saved. Christ so died for all of God’s elect that they should infallibly be brought to faith.

By Christ's death saving faith was procured. If Christ died for all, then saving faith is procured for all, but since that is not the case, Christ did not die for all.

Romans 7:15–20 isn’t a prooftext against LFW in a strict philosophical sense. Paul is describing the internal conflict of the regenerate man, not writing a metaphysics of the will. So no, I didn’t make a syllogistic refutation. That would be a category mistake. The point is simpler. Paul, "I do what I do not want… I practice what I hate." That’s not a picture of a neutral will with equal power to choose otherwise. It’s a renewed will in conflict with indwelling sin. Which is why Romans 7 sits so uncomfortably with the intuitive LFW model.
