I’d rather one of my children marry someone who was sexually immoral before they got saved, repented, came to Christ, and is walking in faithful obedience than any of these self-righteous people who don’t either believe or understand the power of the gospel to transform lives!

Why the admonition to marry someone equivalent in past sins? I mean, I understand the discernment aspect of it being preferable to marry a virgin. Absolutely. But I've seen drug addicts in a relationship pull each other into that temptation, and the same applies to people who struggle with gluttony. It also applies with sexual sins as well. I think marrying a virgin should be the ideal no matter your status

If someone argues that a former promiscuous woman is "damaged goods" and questions whether a Christian young man should marry her, remember Rahab. She was a Canaanite prostitute but became a mother in the lineage of Jesus. God redeemed her, cleansed her, and Salmon married her.

The OP doesn’t want to get into debate on this, which is fair enough. But please note how Daventian HU fails the “like causes always produce like effects” test. What’s the difference between the death he died for the elect, and that for all, that explains these different results?

Of all the learning methods, lecture is the least effective (5% retention) of them all. If this is the case why do we still do so much of it in the church?
