@utpalnadiger “Bali-esque” is not a term I hear often. Definitely colder water but nowhere near the trash as Bali

@Brandonwords @eftegarie I assumed you saw my previous comment on the main post about The River.
English

@Wordful @eftegarie Yes. That would have been a much more normal way to reply. Maybe you're the annoying person in the common area, though?

Bangkok has so many condos, that even after you choose the area, there will still be 30+ options. It’s impossible to view and properly compare all of them, so you gotta make a choice on limited information. And you’ll never know for sure if it was the right choice until you’re fully settled in, and slowly see with your own eyes that there won’t be any negative surprises.
Dumb people optimize for infinity pools and fancy amenities, while smarter people prefer something boring but sturdy; thick walls and windows insulating your room from noise, having lots of food and supermarkets nearby, good condo management that won’t allow unruly neighbors.
Pro tip before making a choice: go to the condo’s juristic office and ask the management: “what are some common problems that residents in this building complain about?”. They’re usually happy to spill the beans.

English

@Brandonwords @eftegarie I should have mentioned that I live in one such building here in BKK

@Wordful @eftegarie I mean, anything is POSSIBLE.... lol
English

@Brandonwords @eftegarie I'm saying it's possible in Bangkok to have really good common areas that are beautiful, expansive, well-maintained, and void of obnoxious people...AND have a nice, solid room in the same complex.
English

@Wordful @eftegarie Can you elaborate? My lived experience says otherwise.

I split a lot of time between San Francisco and Tokyo, and one thing has always bothered me: why does the capital of technology still look like so much of it got frozen in the 1930s?
I love San Francisco. The ambition, the interesting conversations, the sheer talent density.
But after living in Tokyo, it’s hard not to notice how much urban form shapes what a city makes possible.

@spaceagente I'm okay-ish but won't be running in Lumpini or Benchakitti for awhile 😬
