Paying my respects at Mur des Fédérés (Communards' Wall) in Père Lachaise cemetery where on the 28th of May 1871, 147 fighters of the Paris Commune were summarily executed by troops of the Armée versaillaise. It now stands as a monument to the heroic struggle of the Commune.

@speakoutsister It's ironic that anti-trans types howl endless about how "important" sex being narrowly defined is, while turning men into an incredibly broad category.

Whatever one thinks of Zionism during its formative years, it is today indisputably a totalitarian movement. Anyone, of any background, who steps out of line, anywhere on the planet, is immediately defamed, delegitimized, and demonized. In unison, an army of flunkies will go after you, your work, your family, even your citizenship. Campaigns are launched to get you silenced, fired, imprisoned, and deported. Whether you are an individual, an institution, or even a country, everyone is expected to boycott and sanction you if you express even the slightest criticism or dissent. But if you call for Israel to be boycotted and held accountable for its actions, these suddenly become the most illegitimate tactics ever conceived.

@DavidDu40667199 @ShoahUkraine The Germans didn't attack Dunkirk straight away because their army was strung out after after days of advancing without rest (there was also an allied counter-attack at Arras that slowed them). It was no act of mercy that the British managed to evacuate.

@ShoahUkraine 1) Dunkirk evac was an act of mercy by Germany in hopes that if GB retained some dignity she may be appreciative and willing to negotiate. 2) Battle of Britain was Germany pretending to fight to camouflage prep for Barbarossa

Running away like cowards and leaving behind 15,000 artillery shells for the Germans to capture is apparently considered a heroic achievement for the British in World War II ! lol 😆
Armchair Admiral 🇬🇧@ArmchairAdml

The main reason Britain is not speaking German is the RAF, Royal Navy and British Army. The Army held off the Germans and made it out of Dunkirk, the Navy was far stronger than Germany’s, and the RAF won the Battle of Britain. Wish we’d stop with this bullshit.

It is at this point unclear whether the announced departure of the US delegation from Islamabad is a negotiating tactic, or whether it represents the termination of negotiations and potentially a premature end to the two-week ceasefire agreement as well. The reason it is difficult to offer an assessment is because the US negotiators are so out of their depth, and so detached from reality, that it is entirely possible they expected negotiations would be concluded within a single session with Iran unconditionally accepting all of Washington's demands.

@Lumi_sg @TOliveFern Amazing how every other nation on earth manages to have equal rights for all citizens, but Israel has to be special demand racial segregation as the "only viable option".

@WorkersRepublic @TOliveFern How did the Arabs get there? They sure as hell weren't there before ancient Israel. All of this stuff is why a two state solution is the only viable option, and that's the same conclusion the peel commission came to back in 1937.

@Lumi_sg @TOliveFern The Palestinians live there. The Zionist movement are the ones who moved there from other countries, then started moaning about how "dangerous" it is. The fact that you can't make a point without being massively dishonest shows how little argument you actually have.

@EsotericStarmer @accipiter0 Even if you're a reactionary monarchist, you cannot see Nicholas II as anything but a terrible tsar. He was too weak and indecisive to rule as an autocrat and too stubborn and backwards to turn over power to ministers or a parliament.

@accipiter0 He was decent leader with the right PM to delegate to. It all went to shit cause some Bergs killed Stolypin. Absorbing the Pale settlement destroyed Russia for good. Living standards before 1914 were not reached again till the end of the 1950s. Lenin's terror regime was evil.

I don’t give a FUCK about anyone’s opinion on immigration at this point. THIS IS INHUMANE. THIS IS WRONG. PERIOD. THERE IS NOTHING ANYONE CAN SAY TO JUSTIFY THIS TREATMENT. THESE ARE HUMAN BEINGS. THEIR LIVES MATTER. Fuck ANYONE who supports this.

@TOliveFern I don't particularly like her but she's not entirely wrong that controlling places like the west bank and the golan heights make it exponentially easier for Israel to secure strategic spots that enemies have historically used to attack Israel with.

@Sturgeons_Law always be conflict with the Palestinians and that no amount of political compromise will be sufficient to stop it. And these opinions were reinforced following the wars of 1967 and 1973.

Two states has been the decades-long stated view of the US govt that aided & abetted the genocide. Even Hamas has expressed interest in a provisional version of it. These debates are meaningless unless liberals confront that 1. Israel rejects any form of Palestinian statehood,
Kelsey Piper@KelseyTuoc

If you believe that there was an ongoing genocide in Palestine, or even just a severe humanitarian crisis in the aftermath of the war, then even if it's not your ideological favorite, "two sovereign states side by side" is obviously a massive improvement over the current state!

@CoreyWriting "combat-aged males" Has to be one of the most monstrous phrases ever created. It exists solely to try and justify undeniable crimes against humanity. So it's no surprise that an utter ghoul like you would use it.

Gaza is the only place where the overall population can increase, where 70% of casualties are combat-aged males, where the opposition sends in hundreds of humanitarian aid trucks, and there's still apparently "genocide" occurring.
Kylie Cheung@kylietcheung

it's infuriating that so many pro-Palestine voices have to fear being smeared as misogynists, rape apologists etc if you call out misinfo that justifies genocide. this has allowed those lies to firmly take hold...
