@OfficialChipC @WorstRefEvr I said if Herb had run toward the lead ref he probably would have been granted the TO. My question is by rule... when does the right to be granted a TO end... is the ball in the inbounder's hands (even tho he not out of bounds yet) is that technically the end of the request time?

The clock starting late here drives me bananas for Santa Clara. Review it and manually time it! Hell of a shot though

@WorstRefEvr It was in transition. Can’t exactly see the referees placement with this camera angle but I think they were all trailing the play, hence how they likely missed this.

Yikes, this is quite the miss on the double dribble. Webber, the color analyst, called this out right away in real time too.

@BetmanBetz Yeah, we should have refs in their mid-twenties with 3 years of experience calling the NCAA tournament so they can keep up.

@OfficialChipC Have you commented on the time out request? I'm seeing that everywhere. Maybe it's granted if he signals to the ref on the endline instead of chasing the new lead up the court.

I’d be shocked if that’s not what the officials were doing at the monitor when they reviewed it. The review took longer than it normally would for a shot that was clearly released prior to zeros on the game clock. In this situation, when the clock may have failed to properly start and they are reviewing the play to see if the successful shot was released prior to expiration of time, NCAA officials may use instant replay and a digital hand held stop watch to re-enact the play and determine if the release of the shot occurred after the 2.4 seconds SHOULD have elapsed on the game clock. I personally think that’s what they did, and found that it was still released in time.

@BethMooreLPM I started my career as a ref in the stands. I was a lot better at it from there apparently.

Well, I will get to watch my 3rd high school basketball game tonight while on my trip which I purposely plotted within the vicinity of 3 of my grandkids. These games bring me copious amounts of joy. Our entire social lives during our girls’ middle & high school years took place on bleachers at basketball & volleyball games. This season of my life, it’s a particular cheerleader I’m going to see but this does not keep me from drawing on my years of experience to help the refs from the stands.

@SportsSturm Maybe the guy standing 20 feet away with an unimpeded view of the defender saw something we can see on TV, maybe.

I had a 10 second count on the team that retrieved the jump ball. That game didn't get any better.

Last night a coach disagreed with how we handled a situation, telling us what the rule is. We'll, I just looked the rule up to be sure & guess who was wrong. Not this guy.

Refs would really let you know the kick was good in 1975.

@GeneSteratore "...if there was no defender near him..." Cook maintains possession of that ball. The defender falling on him, already down by contact, dislodged the ball. But hey, I'm a basketball referee what do I know except that there shouldn't be a gather step in football either.

Obviously a lot of talk about the overtime of Bills vs Broncos. Here are my thoughts on all of the big rulings down the stretch: No Flag for PI on Denver I support the decision to not flag Denver on the fade route. Is there contact? Sure, but it’s a play on to me. Interception or Catch? The interception is a wild play, with a lot going on. Seeing it full speed, I thought it was an interception and would’ve ruled it that way if I was on the field. My perspective on it is that Cooks lost the ball as soon as his body hit the ground. In my opinion, if there was no defender near him and he lost the ball when he hit the ground, the ruling would’ve been incomplete. I would have liked to see the game stopped for a more formal review, with an announcement from the referee on exactly how they ruled. Pass Interference #1 on Bills I didn’t think this was a foul. It was, to me, the same play that happened the drive before with Denver and didn’t warrant a flag. Noting that on that play there was a flag for Roughing the Passer too, so Denver still would’ve got a first down. Pass Interference #2 on Bills Clearly correct and pass interference.

@SkinWade You've got me thinking about changing my handle to BigEgoOfficial. For real though, it's a tough line for refs to hold between self confidence & the right amount of humility to have. Some refs do this very well. I unfortunately do not.

For example, I know my personality/temperament is not conducive to me being an air traffic controller. It would be bad. Some of the refs don’t exhibit the right temperament for their job. The results agitate the fanbase - not smart IMO. All right…I’ll move along now

The big ego officials gotsta go. You know the ones…the guys that everyone knows their name because they revel in conflict with players and coaches and make it about that. The temperament required to do the job should be as important as anything else. Some have it, some don’t

@redditmavericks Occasionally we have a good game where we're not noticed. The best refs are the ones no one cares about.

Are refs just ass across the board. I’m assuming yes.

@SkinWade I've been worked by high school coaches. They 💯 do that at the NBA level.

“I spent the first year or so in Memphis teaching the refs how to call our games” - Hubie Brown Draymond did the same thing. Dort has done it. That’s what that is.
