Hate to acknowledge the elephant in the room… but Smite viewership has been quite rough lately (compared to the norm). Can’t help but feel vindicated that this whole taking a complete break while they wait for Smite 2 thing was not exactly the best way to go about things. The budget isn’t there for SPL, that’s life, but surely they could have had some sort of open tournaments with modest prize pools or something to retain any sort of interest in the comp scene. Sets with money on the line between pros/am players using their cams from home, small draft league that can be streamed once a week and casted (they’re making content anyway). Imo if you’re playing the game right now for anything other than fun/you make money on it, you’re wasting your time and you’d be better spent playing anything else in pursuit of comp/improving. With the current game plan, Smite 2 is gonna have to absolutely blow everyone out of the water and capture a much larger, different audience ESPECIALLY with the inevitable split player bases. And I hope it does, but the community buildup over the years is just sinking down the drain as we speak. SmiteGame itself is getting perhaps 1/5 the viewers it’d normally get with just community streamers on cause it can’t hold over afk SPL viewers. Not that me saying any of this changes anything, just airing out some frustration for impressions. 😜 Maybe some higher ups will cough up some money to make something happen 😅 In reality though, I’ve actually been having a ton of fun streaming lately so thanks to everyone hanging out in the streams 😎 love y’all ❤️
