The digital edition of Distal is close to ship, so I'm writing the names of supporters in the book... Someone asked to be called "Garrus Vakarian" and I couldn't be more proud. Also, if you want to pre-order while there's still time. You can do that here: distal.backerkit.com/hosted_preorde…

In the process of moving, here’s the new studio. The installers were a bit shocked I wanted to go this route, but I think it paid off.

@d20play I dig the "double one of the spell's numerical effects" line. That bit feels like you get some room to play.

Spellcasting checks to retain the ability to cast a spell (rather than to cast it in the first place) are working really well in my d20play RPG playtests so far!

Today, I’ll give you a thread on character sheets! In my mind, a good character sheet puts the most pertinent character info at your fingertips, in an organized and simple way, it’s the game’s Interface. It can also give you a feel for the game.

@WhittersRichard Love this character sheet, stylistically, organizationally, and the baked-in instructions. It's so good! Designing my character sheet was rough. Focused a lot on clarity, but it totally falls down when it comes to style and feel. Here's a pregen as an example.

Here’s a homemade sheet I created for the game I’m working on. You can see how it fits the heritage, but I tried to make it simple, but I wanted it to have the feeling to it. Also, the bog big Grump troll adds a flare :)

@WrelPlays Out of all the Mass Effect characters i'm glad they chose Garrus. Literally could not go wrong with Garrus. Cheers to the stranger.

Bonus alternate version in case that last paragraph seems nebulous.

Thanks to all the folks who supported the Grim Hollow: Transformed Kickstarter! Including late backers after the campaign ended, we're at just over $900k. The energy I get knowing people are out there interested in the setting and new #5e #dnd rules is what keeps me going.

This is a good example of why TTRPG designers are constantly sweating word choice. It matters a lot for clarity. Saying "let's search the room" and "let's investigate the room" could both end up being Perception (rules as written). Though, the GMs I know would let you use either.
This Effin’ GM@thiseffingm

This has bothered me for a long time when I see it in adventures written for 5e. DMG 2024 sets the record straight. Perception for finding. Investigating for understanding.
