@JustineBateman Sad reality - these prophets, mystics, oracles supposedly predicted floods, famines, the end of the world, world wars - but not ONE of them saw AI coming, "Hey heads up, one day you'll talk to a machine that writes your essays for you." They all just missed it completely.

And also this Josh7:5 And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water. Ai is mentioned 36 times. T36 = 1+2+3...+36 = 666 Ai + Beast = 216 mentions = 6x6x6 Ai + Beast* + Six* = 666 mentions

There is this: Rev13:14-15 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an imag to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. Seems to indicate some sort of machine that can speak.

From the d20play discord. Two great tastes @ChubbyFunsterGC. "My home group is starting a new campaign tomorrow using Chubby Funster's ShadowSun with d20play RPG- I'll let you know how it goes!"

@d20play I would be interested to try the system, but currently tied up with other long form games, namely a 5th ed. (2014), a Dystopian Dawn game, a Dune TTRPG, and a series of One Shot Dungeon crawls. Will ya'll be live streaming the game on YouTube?

This is missing a few key points. The IFRPG took over the D&D world championship in 2017. Here you see steady increase in interest WBW, bad play test, Spell Jammer, and finally 5.5 (and the announcement that the IFRPG was discontinuing it's partnership with WotC) stagnated growth.

D&D Popularity: Make a solid new version, 6E. Make great adventures. See popularity grow again like from 2017-2023. I think Stranger Things and Critical Role are falsely credited. Don't chase pop culture tie-ins that cheapen your product. (do allow pop culture to reference YOU).

@blacklodgegames I am afraid you are right. They will not focus on the product and making great D&D adventures, new versions, and premium reprints of past versions. Instead, I am afraid we will see all the tie-ins we are seeing with magic...

I think they are in serious trouble. They are not going to get another talent like Mike Mearls. Any good indie producer is going to make their own game and win big with crowd funding. They will only be able to attract mediocre talent to work for them at this point and 6e will not be a very good product. If they could just remember that they are Coca-Cola, they could easily take up the crown again. But they won't.

@d20play "D&D was popular because of Stranger Things!" Ok, why was *Stranger Things* popular?

The rise in popularity of D&D in the last decade. Many will say Critical Role and Stranger Things is behind it. I say a good system (compared to the previous version), good adventures (Curse of Strahd and ToA), and dndbeyond were just as, if not more, important.
