@WrightNever
Enjoys many things. Baffled at the current state of politics. I like to think most of us are decent.

'I don't think for a second he's interested in the well-being of those people.'
As Keir Starmer faces criticism over the grooming gangs scandal, @ShelaghFogarty says Elon Musk is using the issue for his 'political interests' and fuelling a 'hate campaign against Jess Phillips'.

@Calamity_clr @djjamesmonday @LBC @ShelaghFogarty You seem so well informed. I hope the blue tick grift pays well.

@djjamesmonday @LBC @ShelaghFogarty Have the social workers & police officers who FAILED the victims for DECADES .. been punished for negligence and covering up ?? 🤷🏻♀️

@TerfASaurusSex Why are people calling for yet another inquiry and not action? An inquiry is just kicking the can down the road. Demonstrates that people are just following the crowd with this.

I think it’s the creepy politicians who “Don’t understand”.
The police do not care about Girls or Women.
Why?
Ed Davey is a spineless cretin.

@darrengrimes They kind of are. At least be honest if you’re going to critique.
English

@patokeefe1234 @AaronBastani That is just a tweet to bash “the left”. Word salad.

What a tweet. Sums up the complete horror show that is the British political class.

Since 1997 there have been no less than 25 commissions, select committee inquiries & white papers on social care. Labour - who admit social care is in crisis, & that the NHS cannot be fixed without it - just responded by... ... announcing the 26th one 😳
English

@AaronBastani The Beveridge report was written during an actual war for goodness sake.
English

@AaronBastani Mick Lynch once said that (Tory) politicians were useless because they had no experience in actually running anything in the real world. Same with Labour politicians. Hence doing inquiries instead of rolling up sleeves and doing things (which may mean making mistakes).

@emilyhewertson An inquiry has already been done. Why waste money kicking the can down the road (which is what inquiries do)? Is this a ruse to put off taking action?

@EstherMcVey1 Labour didn’t sell off North Sea oil nor privatise the production and distribution of electricity. I wonder which party did that ?
English

@LBC That’s because he is very much protected in his little bubble.

@MHconflicted @TomTugendhat Excellent pod and excellent episode 👏

🚨New Conflicted Ep🚨
Conflicted Community: Tom Tugendhat – The Dangers of Islamism and the Future of the Middle East
To bring in the new year, we have a special Conflicted Community episode this week – an interview with none other than Tom Tugendhat (@TomTugendhat), a Conservative British MP and ex Minister of State for Security.
Tom is a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a veteran of both Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak’s Conservative cabinets. He remains a big figure in the party, having run unsuccessfully for party leader in 2024, and is one of the most outspoken of all British MPs when it comes to the UK's security policy. But most importantly, Tom is a long time dearest listener, friend of Aimen’s and fan of the show, so we invited him on to discuss himself, his time in government and his thoughts on the current crises engulfing the Middle East.
In this episode @ConflictedThom, @AimenDean and Tom discuss Tom’s background, including some of his formative years spent in the Middle East, as well as his thoughts on the scourge of Islamism in the region and the West, before looking at how effective security policy can be enacted by the West as a new world order takes shape.

@mrkites_benefit @LondonEconomic Would you say those things? I certainly wouldn’t because some things aren’t funny. Maybe this is why right wingers don’t make the best comedians.

@wokebob99 @Keir_Starmer This could be done now I bet. The Beveridge report was published during an actual war. Admittedly, a lot of initial groundwork was done previously - but we know what the issues are with adult social care, as they knew then with the lack of a welfare state. We are so lame.
English

The Tories failed families and carers by neglecting adult social care.
That ends now.
With investment, my government will transform adult social care into a system that provides dignity for those who need it.
No more sticking plasters. We will deliver our Plan for Change and create an NHS fit for the future.
UK Prime Minister@10DowningStreet
We're gripping the problems facing adult social care, taking action to help people live independently and to support care staff. Through investment and reform, we'll take pressure off our health & care system and deliver on our Plan for Change to build an NHS fit for the future.
