A war powers resolution to rein in Trump's war with Iran just failed, 50-49. All Democrats except John Fetterman supported the resolution. Three Republicans broke ranks: Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Rand Paul.

I've occasionally been asked here whether I'm worried that my cats will savage my hens. This photo illustrates why that is, in this troubled world, perhaps the least of my worries

@hmm_cook I guess my point is, you have to feel safe enough to even acknowledge or recognize you experience the world differently from others, before you can start exploring options, & then you have to feel safe & important enough to care for yourself. It can be tricky!

@hmm_cook After a while, I started telling myself, "no one else is standing in exactly my place on the mountain, so they can't see what I see." It takes a while to acknowledge your own reality when others actively deny it & punish you for trying to care for yourself. Funhouse mirror.

For #Autistics, how people-pleasing usually develops is basically when the people around you are either telling you explicitly or kind of subtly giving you the message over and over and over, that your natural autistic reactions to things aren’t acceptable. 1/3

That it’s not okay for you to react like that. It’s not okay for you to talk like that, to ask direct questions, to be sensitive to your environment in the way that you are.

You may know that I've been seeking out tiny Victorian & Edwardian silver treasures lately with which to make necklaces for my Etsy (jewellery-making was my first love). On my antique trinketty searching adventures I've come across some of the best most whimsical charms ever. Here are my top 4 faves for your delight: ⚱️Sterling silver Welsh dresser with miniscule enamelled plates &...possibly grandad in a little blue urn 🍗A manual rotisserie spit complete with roast chicken that with tiny handle so you can turn the chicken round 🐟A chip shop fryer, complete with tiny battered cod and fishy decorations 🐴A pantomime horse with articulated silly trousered legs

Every birder has some regularly occurring migratory bird species that are strangely frustrating. One of mine is the yellow warbler, which I tend to see high and in poor view. Finally, a good look the other day! (Turtle Pond, Central Park, New York) #birdcpp #nature #wildlife

Just found a birthday card I received for my best friend Sam, when I turned 16. Do you think I can talk Carmike Cinemas into honoring this coupon?

@aliciaandrz If it's a less scary task that doesn't involve anyone else, I can set a visual timer, & that help me start & focus. Sometimes I watch a YouTube video, like a cleaning or decluttering video, & that motivates me to pause video & do something, even if it's not cleaning/decluttering.

@aliciaandrz And a lot of the things I put off, I put off b/c they're a chain reaction. Like, see a doc, they tell you to get a test, then you have to make the appt, go thru the test, then there's a recommendation or you have to see another specialist & … Too many things aren't one & done.

I did a task I’ve been putting off for months, giving me extreme anxiety. it took thirty minutes tops. I would really just like to function like a normal person & do these things immediately, but alas.

@danidonovan 5-min shower, hahahah. Like that exists? Or getting out the door in 5 mins. It's not just ADHD for me, but it's a big component! Really anything that involves stopping & starting. Or a lot of little tasks strung together. Or staying focused unless in hyperfocus or using a timer.
