@mikemoviez Completely agree with you. But in my opinion, his character doesn't have much of an impact on the film. The fights are between the younger characters—Costigan and Sullivan.

@WritingValentin I'm sorry but Nicholson was exceptional. I was born and raised in Boston, still live here, and I'm telling you, his accent was fine. If anyone wants to argue, they have to live in Boston for 35 years first. Nicholson was fucking excellent.

THE DEPARTED [2006] Directed by Martin Scorsese ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This movie turns twenty this year! Crazy to think it's been that long. It sure doesn't feel like two decades.

@WritingValentin @mikemoviez Me too. That many years ago, believe it or not, I found the movie doubly fraught because I kept mixing them up! The two of them They looked so much alike! Fair haired handsome same age bracket.

@SandbaggerDC @amspectator Adam and Eve aren't entirely innocent when it comes to AI. If Adam hadn't bitten into that apple, we could be taking it easy today, buying our girlfriend an ice cream, and having our work done for us.

@ihateclaims @Freelineorlando KOTFM is long, but the film needs that runtime imho. Was a bit nervous about De Niro’s performance cos I feared he’d resort to the usual facial tics that impersonators know by heart. Not true—De Niro gives the film the depth it needs through his character’s ambivalence.

One thing I love about The Shining (out today, 1980) is Jack Torrance’s insistence on the written word while Danny is all about images (of ghosts); Kubrick flexing his superiority over author King? Glad this film is now regarded as a horror masterpiece; wasn’t Shelley Duvall fab?

@mikemoviez @SalCambio That's right—I watched the scene again and you can hear the title. But it wasn't in the script. At least not in any version I'm familiar with.

@SalCambio @mikemoviez I don't hear any music in the scene, and QT didn't include any in the script either. As a young screenwriter, which he was at the time, you shouldn't do that anyway, because music is subject to copyright, and using it in films costs big bucks.

@mikemoviez Probably not my cup of tea. Glad you enjoyed it, though. One question: why was the flower duet from Lakme playing in the background?

@KidCreole3 I watched that show back then, but not every episode. The art, the music, the suits. Top-notch.

@ThatNickGraham @Suzierizzo1 I suspect Donald wishes he could speak like Charles III. What do you think? I’m not talking about rhetoric at all. And even less about diplomacy. Just pronunciation. That’s what’s on Donald’s mind, isn’t it?
