i've been watching the BBC series The Shadow of the Tower, which chronicles the rise to power of Henry VII after the War of the Roses and his struggle to establish the Tudor dynasty on the throne of England. Watching it is a stark reminder of how, not long ago, this was a very different country. Ask yourself, would the BBC today commission such a piece of historical re-enactment? Would it attempt to faithfully portray the mind and motives of Henry, the political intrigues of the Council, or the deeply alien world of late-medieval England - without smothering it in modern moral commentary? The answer is obviously no. The BBC of 1972 was actually interested in portraying British history, for a British public who had been taught this at school. There was an implicit sense that this is the history of the land and the people who inhabit it should naturally wish to see it faithfully represented. Today, we have lost confidence in our past. When we do deal with it, it is only insofar as we recognise our wrongdoings. It has become a cautionary tale about the present, rather than a world worth inhabiting in its own sense. And that's a great, great shame.

This man represents something quite dangerous. It is the type of person who is obsessed with their self image, where the worst thing that could happen is that they are called ‘racist’. When people ask why Britain allows open borders, radical Islam, illegal migrant crimes and the industrial abuse of white working class girls, it is because the ruling class have this personality type.

This is Mark Ashton, chairman of Ipswich Town. On 23rd March, invited by the club, Nigel Farage attended a lunch and subsequent tour of the ground. As pathetic as this embarrassing apology is, note one thing. The fear. The sheer terror in Mark Ashton’s eyes as he desperately scrambles to apologise. It’s this control we should be worried about, not politicians.

What the bloody hell has this got to do with the likes of Henry Winter? Did he have a go at Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner for using Bristol Rovers and Gillingham FC?

If anyone suffered any “Hurt, pain and distress” by seeing a politician they don’t like at a football ground they should do the decent thing and lock themselves in a dark room for eternity away from normal people.

Ipswich might genuinely have the worst fanbase in British football. Forcing their chairman into a hostage style apology video because Nigel Farage showed up is pathetic. He’s topping the polls, and they want him silenced? Freedom of speech clearly only applies when they agree with it.

Any football club thinking it’s a good idea to associate themselves with Farage only needs to look at the Ipswich Town PR disaster. That will take decades to recover from. Football fans have long memories.

The idea that any football supporter who attends matches regularly and listens to the ‘banter’ from the crowd is ‘hurt’ by the visit of a potential future Prime Minister is so laughable it almost seemed like a comedy sketch Mr Ashton needs to grow a backbone !
